Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION Over-Ear Wireless Headphones - Platinum

Genuinely impressed!

I've had the 1000xx for about 3 weeks now, and for me they are superb. The passive isolation is very good, but add in the ANC and at least 80 to 85% of noise is filtered out, a little behind the XM6 but only by a very small degree. They are supremely comfortable, much better headband than either of the previous versions I have used - I've worn them for 4 hours and not needed to have a repositioning, which for me was a first with XM series headbands. The earpads are perfect, ridiculously comfortable and soft. The connectivity and flexibility of the headphone is up to Sony's usual high standard, with LDAC set to max 990kbps I've wandered all over my flat with no stutters or crackles. They pair with my phones and the app within moments every time. The app is excellent, took moments to set the sound up to my tastes, always use find my eq and then tweak the eq from there. Very impressed with the new DSEE, tried it with a few lower quality old songs and found it very improved over their standard sound quality. Now for the most important part - sound quality. A major improvement to the XM6, the soundstage is wider and more precise, everything sounds very organised and cohesive on every genre I've thrown at the 1000xx. Bass is full, forceful and very precise. Midrange is fantastic, very clear and full, female vocals sound better than on the XM6, somehow vocals sound more emotive & involving. Guitars & strings sound particularly fantastic too. As for the treble, it's got great extension and little to no sibilance, unless it's their in the music. Basically I've found them a big step up in comfort, the build quality is amazing, the battery life is fine despite being a little behind the XM6, and the sound quality has for me taken a leap over the XM6.

Had the XM5s and WOW what a difference there light comfortable and their noise cancelling is very effective and the overall soundstage is balanced and i don’t feel the need to tune them overall 10/10!

Premium quality, but not perfect.

Very happy with this purchase. The build quality on these is fantastic, as well the sound is great. My only two reservations are the price point and the tightness of the band. It falls firmly in the premium price point, which is perhaps slightly higher than I would’ve anticipated. The band also is not as tight as I would’ve hoped for, as leaning forwards or backwards I can feel them slipping off.

Exquisite sound and flawless craftsmanship.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first impression on opening the carry case was seeing immediately the high quality of the headset. It looked fantastic with polished metal parts machined to a very high standard and the faux leather ear pieces add that certain feel of quality and luxury. The charging of the headset was easily done via the USB ‘C’ cable and, as I use my mobile for music normally, I paired the headset to my mobile with no problems. It was a simple procedure of pressing the power button on the headset, turn on ‘bluetooth’ on your phone or whatever your music is stored on and the pairing happens automatically. It helps to install the ‘Sound Connect App’ before starting the pairing. I had it installed already because I have various items I use the app for. I am retired now but still found the headset and instructions very easy to understand. When I put on the headset I was very pleased that my ears fitted inside the cups easily because I normally have trouble with fitting headsets but this time it was a perfect fit and very comfortable to wear. The faux leather finish was ideal and gave the headset the ‘premium look’. However, a minor point is that I am not sure how the faux leather will stand up to repeated use in all conditions. I think cleaning may be a problem after a few years use, but time will tell. The overall sound quality is simply superb. Without doubt, the best sound quality I have ever heard from any headset I’ve ever owned and I have owned may over the years. The noise cancelling is very effective and enables the listener to be completely cut off from the outside world while being fully immersed in the music being played. I listen to a lot of classical music and the clarity is second to none. Individual instruments playing are clearly heard and vocals are as realistic as if the sound source is right in front of you. I also do lots of walking and found that this headset is ideal when out and about in the countryside and the long battery life is handy when away from home. The ability to control various functions such as Play/Pause, Skip Tracks, Increase and decrease volume is provided on the touch sensor control panel. These functions are quite easy to master after a few minutes of practice and full instructions are given in the Quick Start Guide /Sound Connect App for these and numerous other functions. Many may think that the 1000X The Collection may seem very expensive, for what essentially is, a pair of headphones. However, you pay for what you get and in this case unmatched sound quality and another prime quality product from Sony. So if you are really into your music this is the perfect product for you.

Almost Perfect

Excellent headphones. Sound quality is fantastic and superb build quality. Only one minor niggle is using pu leather on the earcups. Lamb skin leather would be icing on the cake.

Great headphones

Great set of headphones. Noise reduction is brilliant. Sound quality is excellent. Upmix 360 is great for songs which include solo vocalists with orchestral arrangements but not so great for genres like heavy metal.
