Good for the price
Its a nice little iron if you don’t have a large amount of ironing to do,steam is a little weak and it sticks to certain materials even on low heat

Ok for the price
I have been using this iron for a few months now, it’s ok for the price but does not generate as much steam as my previous iron, it is easy to refill the water tank and quite light weight

Love my iron
I bought this iron couple months ago very pleased with it good price too

Okay for the price.
For the price the iron is alright, 3 things let it down though... 1. The amount of steam it produces isn't great. 2. The iron topples over easy so needs to be placed on the base every time. 3. The base has 4 rubber feet that aren't secured in place and constantly fall off.

Brilliant iron
I am so glad I purchased this item, it is brilliant

Fantastic iron.
Very happy with this iron. A lot of steam and ready almost instantly. The stainless steel plate was super important to me as I have had bad experience with ceramic plates wearing off and not being able to iron without the plate sticking. At least this you can clean and not worry about damaging the plate.

Hello Kate,
I can advise the following for the Russell Hobbs 24420 Series 1 Steam Generator Iron:
It will offer a level of heat due to it transferring steam from the base to the iron.
Thanks for using Q & A.

Hi Clare,
Russell Hobbs Series 1 Steam Generator Iron 24420
Having checked the manual it states: You may use the iron with tap-water, but if you live in a hard water area, you should use distilled water (not chemically descaled or softened water). If you buy distilled water, check that it’s suitable for use in irons.
Thanks for using Q&A.

Hi Frustrated J
Having checked the instructions for the Russell Hobbs Series 1 Steam Generator Iron 24420:
1. Set the temperature control to S or higher – otherwise the steam might condense on the soleplate,
giving you water instead of steam.
2. Squeeze the steam trigger to produce steam, release it to stop.
NOTE: When you first start your steam station and pull the trigger for steam ironing, there will be a
delay as your steam station pumps water from the reservoir to prime the system. This is normal
and may take 20-30 seconds. This will also happen after refilling the reservoir.
STEAM READY LIGHT
The steam ready light will flash while the iron is heating up. Wait until the steam ready light stops flashing before trying to steam iron. Note that operating the steam trigger will have no effect until the steam ready light stops flashing.
If this doesn't help to get steam, please see the product support page, via the link below for more help:

Hello Rusty424,
The supplier has advised the following for the Russell Hobbs Series 1 Steam Generator Iron 24420:
All the steam holes are functional. They’re arranged in a sort of pointed U-shape, following the shape of the edge of the iron. There are also various grooves and indents as well but these are not steam holes, some of them will aid the flow of the steam across the plate of the iron though.
Thank you for using Q&A.

Hi There
Russell Hobbs Series 1 Steam Generator Iron 24420
Having checked I can see to clean this it is recommended to unplug the base unit, and let the appliance cool down fully. Wipe outer surfaces with a damp cloth. Remove spots from the soleplate with a little vinegar. Take care not to scratch the soleplate. To extend the life of the appliance and to avoid problems with lime scale, your steam generator is fitted with an anti-scale cartridge. The life of the anti-scale cartridge depends on the frequency of use and the hardness of the water in your area. In a soft water area this should be about 100 uses. This can be changed as and when needed.
Thanks for using Q&A.
