Shiny steel kettle
replacement for same one i bought 10 years ago which has lasted well - almost the same but base more flimsy - old one was brushed stainless steel this one is shiny so now doesn't match my toaster

Disappointing
Very poor standard and design for such a prestigeous brand. The plastic lid collects condensation so when lifting off it drips everywhere. Not very stable on the base. Extremely noisy in use. Lightweight, but that means the quality is poor and I don't expect it to last long. Whatever happened to quality in manufacturing?

About my purchase of a Russell Hobbes' kettle.
I bought this kettle a few months ago and it's lived up to its description and reviews of it that I read before I bought. It's not an expensive kettle but it's very efficient, has markers inside which indicate how much to fill it for one cup/2 cups so that I don't unnecessarily boil water and use power I don't need to. Yet I can still boil up plenty of water to fill my hot water bottle last thing at night. 😊 It lives up to all the features advertised on the purchase literature. It has a 360 degree base, pours well, has a water window, is stainless steel (to match other items in my kitchen) and has a 3 year guarantee. And is also a British product. I'm very satisfied with this purchase. Thank you

I bought this as an emergancy purchase when my old kettle just stopped working. The lid is 'lift off' rather than 'flip up' and it took a while for the lid to become loose enough to easily get off. Stick with it... it just needs to loosen up a bit. I like the speedy 45sec one-cup boil, which is handy. No measurement guide onthe side, so you have to look inside to see how much water it in there.

Having checked the manual for the Russell Hobbs Stainless Steel Adventure Kettle 23911 it does advise to clean in the following way:
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Unplug the stand, and let the kettle cool before cleaning
2. Wipe all surfaces with a clean damp cloth.
3. Remove the lid.
4. Slide the filter up and out of the guides.
5. Rinse the filter under a running tap while brushing with a soft brush.
6. Slide the filter down, into the guides.
7. Refit the lid.
Descale regularly, (at least monthly).Descale the appliance with a proprietary descaler. Follow the instructions on the package of descaler.
Therefore we would not recommend using a lemon.
