Efficient kettle
Good kettle, boils fast. The lid lifts out completely to fill rather than a hinge, which personally I find slightly inconvenient. The shiny exterior is also not very practical in a hard water area but that's as advertised and I bought this when I needed a new kettle quickly.

Thus a basic kettle no bells or whistles. It is attractive and does the job. I have been pleased with it and I do not have any issues with taking the top off to fill. Good brand, good item and reasonably priced.

Check the contents!
Unfortunately I didn't check the contents of the box when I picked it up.I was hoping it was as per thie picture on the box as I wanted to match it with the toaster I still had (previous kettle was a few years old and given up).As it was this turned out to be a chrome polished finish and having read the bottom of the box it says the contents might not be as per the picture on the box which surprised the lady who I returned it to days later. A wasted trip so ordered one on Amazon.

Reasonable replacement
Is it ideal having to buy a new kettle the week before Christmas…no but, that was the situation I faced. With a hankering for hot chocolate but knowing that she cannot use the cooker without an adult present (my husband was simply upstairs) my 9yo daughter came up with the ingenious idea to put milk in the kettle. Safe to say, her relatively clever idea (for a 9yo theory) didn’t work and almost caused a far more worse scenario than if she had just used the cooker!!!! Anyway, this replacement looks nice for the price and while it’s a little on the noisier side when boiling, it boils quickly.

Having checked the manual for the Russell Hobbs Stainless Steel Adventure Kettle 23911 it does advise to clean in the following way:
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Unplug the stand, and let the kettle cool before cleaning
2. Wipe all surfaces with a clean damp cloth.
3. Remove the lid.
4. Slide the filter up and out of the guides.
5. Rinse the filter under a running tap while brushing with a soft brush.
6. Slide the filter down, into the guides.
7. Refit the lid.
Descale regularly, (at least monthly).Descale the appliance with a proprietary descaler. Follow the instructions on the package of descaler.
Therefore we would not recommend using a lemon.
