Don’t work for Nissan xtrail
It’s big enough and the concept is good but even with as much pressure as you can apply if you have a soft lined boot and roof like ours does it just falls down after a few miles. Also unless the backs of your seats go straight up you lose quite a bit of boot space.

Don't buy this!
Awful product. The screw handles would not stay up once the height was adjusted. Just would not lock into place. The slightest pressure would make the guard descend. Black plastic handles with metal screws and bolts inside them. When are manufacturers going to realise plastic and metal don't work together. Waste of time and money.

Useless
The feet are held on with two threaded bolts, but the embedded nuts that they are meant to screw into were two different threads, neither of which were the correct size so couldn't fit it securely. The dog got into the car inside one minute. Bought for my daughter who didn't try to fit it until four months after, she didn't keep the receipt or packaging so we couldn't return it.

We cannot comment on a specific car but this product can be adjusted to fit inside the boot of most 5-door vehicles. It is suitable for hatchbacks, estates and 4x4’s; however this dog guard it is not suitable for saloons.
It is height adjustable from 60cm-110cm and width adjustable from 90cm-145cm. Ensure that the top of the back seats do not extend as far as the roof of the vehicle. There should be a gap of approx. 3-4” between the back of the rear seats and the roof for the guard to stand. Please check the dimensions of your boot space to be sure this Dog Guard is suitable.

It is height adjustable from 60cm-110cm and width adjustable from 90cm-145cm. Ensure that the top of the back seats do not extend as far as the roof of the vehicle. This can be easily adjusted and fitted into most car boots. It's suitable for hatchbacks, estates, 4x4's and people carriers. It's not suitable for saloons though. These will fit 90-145 cm in width and 60-110 cm in height.
As to whether it's suitable, it might depend on the specific version of the Ford Ranger, as I can see that there's a number of versions, the Cab, Super Cab, and Double Cab. We'd advise that you check the available space in your own vehicle and compare it to the product's listed specs before considering purchase.
