Not as straightforward to set up and back up as suggested, despite numerous visits to the website, which was really unhelpful. There needs to be much more information on screen as soon as the drive is connected so that the user knows exactly what to do. It would be fine for people who are more tech. savvy but my Seagate ones were much easier to set up.

Easy to use with laptop but not phone
Seems to work very well with my laptop. I bought it to link with my Samsung Galaxy phone but it wasn't so good with that but I'm happy with it linked to my laptop.

Perfect for backing up my data
I purchased a Western Digital 1Gb drive after checking other reviews and technical blogs. It has been perfect for backing up my pictures and other important files. Helpfully, it is preloaded with a disk copying and security programs. A really useful piece of kit, not the very cheapest around, but Western Digital have a good reputation for quality and reliability.

Just what I needed
I bought this a couple of months ago as I was leaving work and had to hand back my work laptop. I was easily able to transfer all of the personal photos and documents I had saved to my work computer to the hard drive to transfer to my new personal laptop. The hard drive made it a really simple task to do. I've now got the additional storage capacity to back up my documents in addition to the capacity on my laptop and cloud storage.

Our supplier has advised that the Elements drive is USB 3.0, which is a different connector to the Samsung Surface II. To connect to the Samsung Surface you would need an adapter or Hub. If this was purchased, yes it would work. You would need to purchase an adapter or Hub to go from USB-C to USB-A.
