It is suitable for use in Rug Doctor branded machines and in comparable 3rd party machines. It is not intended to be used for washing by hand.

The Rug Doctor carpet cleaning solution has anti foam in it.
The only time foam will be seen on the carpet is if too much solution has been put in the machine.

Yes, I can confirm this is suitable. Shag pile carpets hold much more moisture than cut pile carpets, so it’s best to avoid over-wetting. To avoid drying problems, we recommend only one cleaning pass over longer pile carpets.

According to the Rug Doctor website, the Rug Doctor 4L Carpet Cleaning Solution is unsuitable for cleaning Oriental rugs (silk or wool).
