Great carpet cleaner
It’s great! Works really well to deep clean the carpet quickly. Only downside is that it was advertised to be suitable for hard floors with the adapter, however it did not come with the hard floor adapter.

Attachment design needs to improve.
Overall I am happy with the machine. However there is a design flaw with the attachments. The hand rotary brush has a lever you push down on to release from the tube which works ok. However the upholstery clear plastic one you need to push a small tab of plastic over a bump on the tube, this snapped on the very first attempt before it was even used and just trying fittings. Please change to same as rotary brush with a lever.

Better than expected
I bought this instead of hiring a cleaner as the price would have been similar. Well impressed, this cleaner really made a diffrence to the cleanliness of my carpets. I honestly did not realise they were as dirty as they were with 4 adults in the house and a large dog. The house now smells fresh and and the carpets look brand new. I would highly recommend this cleaner and the vax carpet liquid purchased seperatley also.

Great carpet cleaner that seems to overcome all the small issues with previous cleaners we have had. Easy to keep the machine clean, stays upright when using the hand tool, reservoir for dispensing cleaning fluid… I could go on. Oh yeah an d it cleans carpets and hard floors really well too.

Cleans well, BUT!!
I purchased on of these cleaners and was happy with the result, BUT when it came to draining out the water and cleaning the machine what a very very poor design!!! You need a screwdriver and take the bottom of the machine apart and reassemble after. Consequently I only used the cleaner once and just left it in the garage until I was able to give it away. If you’re an older person or not very practical Keep away form this model!!

After checking with the manufacturer I can confirm this Vax Platinum Power Max ECB1SPV1 Carpet Cleaner when used in its quick clean mode your carpet can dry within 1 hour, depending on the thickness of the carpet.

The hose on the cleaner reaches up to 2.5m. I'm unable to say if it will stretch to the top of your stairs. You would need to measure your staircase to see if the hose will reach.

I have a VAX, though they advertise as pet friendly its definitely not. Despite hoovering before use pet hair inevitably ends up in the brushes and clogs up causing motor burn out. To clean it to remove pet hair is fiddly, time consuming and dirty you have to remove 8 screws to clean the brushes. I do not recommend.
