The Vax Platinum Power Max Upright Carpet Cleaner revives tired carpets by deep cleaning right into the fibres to shift stains, dirt and grime. It removes up to 93% of bacteria, so you're getting a proper clean that makes carpets look and feel fresher. The XL brush bar works with 7 SpinScrub brushes to agitate deep into the pile and bring back the bounce, and at 1200 air watts, it's got the power to tackle stubborn marks and spills.
The 3.5l clean water tank and 2.9l dirty water tank let you cover a decent area before refilling or emptying. The 9m power cord and 2.5m hose provide plenty of reach, and edge-to-edge cleaning gets into corners and along skirting boards. It works on carpets, rugs and upholstery, with upholstery and SpinScrub hand tools for sofas, stairs or car seats. Weighing 9.6kg, it's not the lightest, but the carry handle makes it manageable. Set up seemed easy enough although I had to watch a few online tutorials as I didn't want to get it wrong. My first thought was its massive, doesn't come with accessories caddy or something else which is annoying as all hidden extras and different packages, major bug bear, but this deal came with steam glider so can't totally complain. My question. That took ages to find out can you use spot cleaner/ pre trestment hose at same time as the carpet cleaner. No you cant so the pre treatment hose, has to be attached at bottom of ( going to say hoover) that you need to turn off first to do, this goes the same as the spot and upholstery brush cleaner, so why bother with the pre treatment wand when it comes with a spray bottle of pre treatment. You should have a sperate compartment for the pre treatment wand so you can use it together with the hoover or just dont bother. Its a lkng slow process clean water is used fast so you will go through solution quick doesn't return half as much water as you use, not sure where solutions comes out from if you are looking at starting at a start point dont think its front of hoover so start back further than you think. Does get a lot of dirt up and on the round brush attachment it comes out the side nearly got me in the eye. Anyway did the job say a metre and a half by a metre took over an hour. But what annoyed me also. Ok my actually hoover doesn't pick up hardly any cat hair, not vax fault but for goodness sake, to get the hair out of the suction area, as its totally up in there, there's 10 screws all in plastic so stress points on the plastic having to undo and re do which I can see is going to be every time to clean this is a nightmare let alone having to take the roller out of the belt urgh not a great design feature, and says good for pets, but not good or easy access to clean out . Steam glider ok and good does not stand up by itself

Great cleaner however, it's taken a couple of times to fully bring up the dirt, the first time seemed to leave streaks where the brushes are.

This won't dry with hot air, it dries via pulling as much moisture as possible from the carpet, this is the same with most of the carpet cleaners.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Vax Platinum Power Max Upright Carpet Cleaner: On this model you do not have to measure the solution - there is a solution tank that you pour the solution into, the machine then automatically mixes the solution with the clean water at the correct ratio for you. Any solution left in the tank thank then be returned to the solution bottle to use another day.

The hose on the cleaner reaches up to 2.5m. I'm unable to say if it will stretch to the top of your stairs. You would need to measure your staircase to see if the hose will reach.
