Excellent cleaniing mCHINE
I bought this a month ago, and only used it a week ago, and the result was absolutely fantstic. My rugs and carpets look brand new, and yet they have been in situ for nearly 20 years. Briliant machine and totally recommended.

Bought as a replacement for Vax carpet cleaner that we had for many years. This new product is far more superior. Hadn’t realised how dirty our carpets had become. Would recommend this carpet cleaner. Only downside is that you still have to remove the brush bar with a screwdriver to clean it properly.

Seems to be a substantial piece of equipment. Definitely need to hoover well before using otherwise brushes get clogged up with dog hair. Will be really good at staying on top of the dirt.

I bought my vax cleaner 2 weeks ago to replace my 10 year old vax which was very good. This new machine is fantastic. I have a dog and i had not reasiled quite how much dirt he was bring in untill I used my new machine. My 30 year old carpets now look new

A truly great machine for cleaning carpets
This is one of my happiest urgent purchases ever. My need was great and immediate, even Amazon prime couldn’t cut it on this one but Argos did. They had exactly the top flight machine I wanted for immediate collection, boxed and ready to go to work on a pretty epic mess. Honestly I thought I was probably wasting my time and money but no. . . This machine sorted it all with the chemistry it came with. It was like witch craft! If you want the dogs-bits carpet cleaner. You’ve found it. This one! Few purchases have pleased me more than this one did. Love Argos and love this machine! Easy to use, easy to assemble and make ready to use, good long flex, tough dual action brushes, dries the carpet really well but you do have to be willing to spend some time drawing the water back out as with all carpet cleaners. I found for detailed drying, using the hose attachment was really effective at drawing back the water. You’ll need to get on your hands and knees to do this. The on thing missing from the pack were plastic furniture stands to stop water draw by wooden furniture. Freezer bags can sort this out instead. Noise wise, sure it’s a powerful machine so it’s not quiet but so what. If you’re using a lot just pop some ear plugs in. It not as loud as our vax vacuum cleaner. They’re all much of a muchness on this score. Big, high torque motor and mechanics for those busy brushes equate to some noise of course.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Vax Platinum Power Max Upright Carpet Cleaner: On this model you do not have to measure the solution - there is a solution tank that you pour the solution into, the machine then automatically mixes the solution with the clean water at the correct ratio for you. Any solution left in the tank thank then be returned to the solution bottle to use another day.

After checking with the manufacturer I can confirm this Vax Platinum Power Max ECB1SPV1 Carpet Cleaner when used in its quick clean mode your carpet can dry within 1 hour, depending on the thickness of the carpet.

The hose on the cleaner reaches up to 2.5m. I'm unable to say if it will stretch to the top of your stairs. You would need to measure your staircase to see if the hose will reach.

I have a VAX, though they advertise as pet friendly its definitely not. Despite hoovering before use pet hair inevitably ends up in the brushes and clogs up causing motor burn out. To clean it to remove pet hair is fiddly, time consuming and dirty you have to remove 8 screws to clean the brushes. I do not recommend.
