Fit for purpose
Bought this to work sat in bed/on sofa. The curved the legs means it can be a bit unstable when you move, but the tilt function with the flat surface for the mouse makes this very comfortable to use for a few hours at a time.

This is made of MDF and, as it's designed for the stated purpose, it will be strong and stable enough.
The maximum 20 inch laptop size is the maximum this will fit does not include any peripherals but, with a laptop of that size, there will be the flat section on the side where you would have space for the mouse.
