Very frustrating to use. There was a few seconds delay after pressing the trigger before steam came out and a similar delay after releasing it before the steam stopped. Had to return. Bought Lakeland's version to replace which works perfectly.

The anti-scale cartridges used on the Russell Hobbs SteamPower Series 2 Steam Generator Iron 24430 will need replacing when used up. The life of the anti-scale cartridge depends on the frequency of use and the hardness of the water in your area. In a soft water area this should be about 100 uses. Do not put any descaling products (including vinegar) into the reservoir. This can damage the appliance.

Thanks for your query about the Russell Hobbs SteamPower Series 2 Steam Generator Iron 24430.
Having checked, it will product some noise from the emission of the steam, such as occasional pumping sounds when water is being pumped into the steam generator and the valve in the steam generator when you press the button. However, neither of these is likely to be very loud or significant.
As to whether this is particularly noisy, with this being very much a personal and subjective thing, we cannot give a quantified answer. Irons generally do not produce very high sound volumes anyway but neither will the iron be totally silent.

I actually don’t mind ironing now that I have this Russell Hobbs Steam generator iron. It isn’t at all noisy so listening to the radio isn’t a problem. It performs its job really well, is light to use and I would recommend it to anyone.
hi Shirley, the iron will take tap water and it does have an Anti-scale for hassle free maintenance. Some areas have a higher calcium content in their water than others and you can of course use purchase distilled water - this would have all the impurities removed already.

Yes it does, I use water from my filter to help stop lime scale build up. This is the best iron I have owned.
if it's like mine the noise you can hear is the pump giving the steam it's pressure
