it does get rid of weeds but flying embers are a concern so don't use if its windy. weed control no better than chemicals for the deep rooted ones. Good if you don't like chemicals

I bought this a few weeks ago and it has transformed the patio. It's extremely easy to use and really efficient at destroying weeds. It's not labour intensive and works quickly.

Really overpriced and unimpressed with Argos, hardly works, weeds will grow back, took it back but jobsworths at Argos wouldn't refund as not 'technically faulty'. Will avoid in future.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Hozelock Green Power Thermal Weeder: ''In essence, it should absolutely kill the weeds between the paving. Obviously if the actual root is below the paving, then it might struggle to get enough contact at the root. It is hard to tell without actually seeing the issue.''

"Technically yes. However Bamboo has very deep roots and therefore for this to be taken to a high enough temperature to kill, it would depend on the soil, dampness etc. Overall I would suggest that specific compounds that can be used to destroy Bamboo would be best, the Thermal weeder is best for vegetation based plants rather than wood based as bamboo is."

I don't have brick paving but guess the weeder would work on it. I use it on my slabs and it's effective BUT the weeds do come back after a while, particularly dandelions, which have deep roots. So you might find a scrub brush as effective, Also I find the weeder is heavy on electricity! Hope this helps.

The weeder produces extreme heat which will radiate a distance. There is no need to touch the weed directly, just to have the heat as close as possible.
It is used to remove weeds from between paving slabs by most, and is often used for block paved drives.

Yes, it can reach weeds between paving stones. The weeder needs to cover the weed completely or at least most of it. It works by "exploding" the plant cells not by burning. The plant may not appear dead for a a few days. Hope this helps. Barbara
If the weeds are sprouting between paving stones, then this will do the job. My garden is covered with chippy stones and despite there being a weed membrane down, the weeds still come through. This machine zaps them. However, if you want to clear between paving stones, might I suggest a rotary brush that will do the job better. However, I find the Hozelock weed zapper to do an excellent job. Hope this helps.
