Great product, App lets it down

Good product but the app lets it down, it could be so much better on the editing of the maps, multi room select to change the cleaning you want to run

Expensive looking piece of kit!

I received the Dyson spot +Scrub Ai to trial. It arrived beautifully packaged and set up was easy and operated via an app. It’s a very large unit and does take up quite a bit of space in a small house but on saying that you can just set it off to wash and clean the floors with no manual input. The suction on the robot is pretty powerful and makes short work of any debris in its path. The water in the tank is self heating and performs the floor washing task very well. The robot itself is quite large and manoeuvres very well around furniture and over rugs. To sum it up I would say that it performs it tasks exceptionally well, however, it was too large for my relatively small house with only 2 people living there and would be more suited to a large busy family house on one level (it doesn’t do stairs 😞) with children and pets.

Useful robot, with so-so user manual.

Excellent time-saving robot cleaner, in general terms. Instructions not particularly clear - manual refers to “icons”, but gives no image of them or imparts any useful info about where to find them in the menu! Who on Earth wrote it😳? The manual also states that one is limited to using only the Vacuum function, when deploying the machine on a floor other than the one on which the dock is kept. This is nonsense - one can easily use the “Vacuum and Wash” function for any floor, but the manual does not explain how to do it. I had to work it out for myself. Cleaning finish is very good (so far). Machine’s self-cleaning mode is quite noisy, so choose the dock’s location wisely! Mapping is very straightforward. As with all Dyson equipment, it’s on the overly expensive side. We will wait to see what its durability is like. Our Dyson vacuum cleaner battery required replacing far sooner than we had expected…

First Experiences

I bought this about 4 weeks ago. We’d tried other units for vacuuming and mopping on mostly hard floors. There’s a lot to like about this unit and the app. We have some areas of dark slate floors (pretty flat). Previous experience was that other units failed to deal with dark surfaces at all;. I was promised that this was solved. And while it is BETTER, it is not solved in this design. As soon as the robot gets to dark slate, it performs a movement as if it’s drunk! So takes a longer time to clean that area. The mapping is better than non-Dyson we’ve had before so with time you can work in reasonable routes (which we couldn’t before). I also wish there was an easier way to do a two-storey set-up. It’s not impossible but it is if you want mopping on the second floor!

Handles an Anatolian shedding, with caveats

Our Anatolian cross sheds twice a year, for about 5 months at a time. So in general it takes two days before we desperately need to vacuum - less to be comfortable. We had concerns that the Dyson would clog on all the hair and frankly it did. However, that was a 2-3 day backlog at the time. By dividing the vacuuming job into three parts - kitchen, hallway, living spaces - we are keeping up nicely. This just took an extra few minutes work in the app to set up, and it runs automatically after that. The bin does not fill which means the long hair can automatically empty into the base-station bin. This took a little working-out, so I am withholding 5 stars, but eventually we were satisfied with the vacuuming performance. I felt that little extra hardware would be needed to detect a bin-full condition, perhaps a contact sensitive switch in the bin or an automated check on the battery drain rate. Either could be enough to trigger pro-active bin emptying or schedule adjustment. Another slight deficiency is that as the wet roller drops it spins on the spot it is lowered onto. We get "clean marks" on the hardwood floor in high traffic areas. This is really due to the fact we are mopping so much more often than we used to. I can't really complain about *clean* marks but it does create another short term concern - will the clean marks eventually connect and result in even colour? I would rather the roller was not allowed to spin excessively on one spot. Again, probably a software issue that could be remotely rectified.

Absolutely awful my app went down I found customer support it's been five days and still nobody's contacted me which means my Dyson doesn't work

Fiddly set up

I haven’t been able to set it up yet because it is very fiddly . I’m desperate to see what it can do!!
