No longer supported by WD software
Its great extremal HDD I use for storing and backing up files (I don't subscribe to a cloud service). The only thing is, these drives are no longer recognised by Western Digital Drive Utilities (they don't appear to be supported any longer by WD or Win11), which makes some of the features un-useable. WD password lock was partly the reason I bought it, hence only 4 stars.

Hi Hjc,
I can confirm that this is compatible with MacOS. You may need to reformat it however.
Thanks for using Q&A.
While most portable hard drives ship with the NTFS file system, it is easy to reformat a hard drive as exFAT if needed, but make this the first thing you do because you will erase it in the process. On Windows open File Explorer, select This PC, right-click the drive and choose Format. On macOS use the Disk Utility app.

One difference between this and WD My Passport For MAC may be that the For MAC version should already be formatted for MAC operating systems, which solves the problem of reformatting if you are unsure how to do it.
