R1S grabs attention with its flawless look and sound. With tactile curves, exclusive Satin Charcoal finish and Composite wood hand-crafted grille, R1S exudes fresh contemporary design. The grille material is created from woods, which are carefully spliced, coloured to closely mimic the rich tones of slow-growing hardwoods. The cabinet and grille blend perfectly with the trademark Roto Dial controller and new colour display to create a feel that encapsulates the technical capabilities of R1S.

Exceptional
I'm the type of consumer who searches obsessively for the best product at the best price. In my hunt for an internet radio that blends full-bodied sound with a wooden cabinet aesthetic, all signs pointed to the Ruark R1S. The problem was that it sat just above what I considered a sensible budget for a 'small' radio, and frankly I was sceptical that it could really fill a large room with sound. Casting my doubts aside and nudging my budget beyond its comfort zone, I took the plunge. The Ruark made me a believer. It's an exceptional radio in every way. For a compact unit it has a reassuring heft that announces a quality build. The set-up was intuitive and as easy as could be—true plug-and-play. The dial and control buttons have a confident, satisfying haptics typical of much more expensive units. The R1S is more attractive in person than online, looking more like a decorative object than a functional one. And the sound exceeds expectations—crisp, lush, and natural, perfect for the jazz station from Chicago and the classical music from Stockholm. Having hesitated at first, I'm so pleased with my purchase that I'm thinking of buying another.

Love it!
I bought this after many years of appreciating the sound quality from my mother in laws radio. Although it was a bit more than I wanted to pay, and after lots of research to compare, I'm thrilled with the sound and the versatility - with different radio sources and great Bluetooth too. Love it - the kids love it too, so it's appreciated across 3 generations now !

Excellent Radio
I have now had the radio for nearly a month and I am pleased with the controls, sound quality, reception and appearance. In terms of current functionality, (i) the lowest light level for standby is not really low enough for use in a bedroom and (ii) the streaming options are a bit limited (eg no Tidal or Qobuz). Other than that very pleased with the RS1.

First impressions are very good
I have had this radio for a few weeks now and so far I am very pleased with it. It was easy to set up. The sound quaility is very good. I bought it to replace a radio from a well known make that was giving a lot of trouble even though it wasn't very old.

Smart both visually and technically has it all
I bought the R1S earlier this month and am still exploring its capabilities. It looks great on my bedside table for a start, and I find the Oktiv app on my smartphone a good way to operate the radio.It is still early days, but a particular feature I have found is playing the audio through wireless headphones. This is achieved by plugging a simple audio transmitter into the headphone output at the rear and pairing this item to my headphones. I am of an age where writing a review is not generally my thing but this radio merits the need for me to make the effort .

The remote control is also useful. A big plus is the ease of programming and configuring all functions.

Great choice, I love it
When I was looking for a radio I was looking for other brands first. Then in my search results the Ruark brand showed up. I thought it was quite pricey at first, but how many times one buys a radio? I was sure that when I would buy another brand and the sound would not be perfect it would frustrate me, long after the price was forgotten. I’m so glad that I choose the R1S. If you doubt buying it because of the price? Don’t. Buy it and try it and be impressed by the sound and built quality. I enjoying it every day.
