With DAB, DAB and FM built in, enjoy clear reception and 8 presets to jump straight to Radio 4, your local station, or streaming services using the trademark Roto Dial controller. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 let you stream from your mobile easily, with Bluetooth remembering up to 6 devices. The alarm and sleep timer make it a perfect bedside companion, and the colour display is clear across the room.
The Composite wood hand-crafted grille and Satin Charcoal finish give it a look that fits beautifully on a bedside table, kitchen counter, or living room shelf without feeling like tech clutter. The 9 watts RMS output fills a room with warm, detailed sound, with bass and treble controls to adjust it to taste. There's a USB port, AUX input for older devices, and a headphone socket for private listening. Fantastic, love this radio.
I think this radio is fantastic, yes it's much more expensive than the regular small radios but build quality and sound is very good. The only small radio that has some bass adding to the sound experience. Connection to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is also great.

Recently purchased. This is a quality product that has many features and works perfectly. The sound quality is great for a small product. It feels premium as did the packaging it arrived in. It was delivered very quickly. Hadn't really heard of Ruark until I was looking for a new radio alarm but would definitely buy from them again.

Great sound and features
Bought this to replace another brand that has withdrawn support for radio presets. Being smaller I did not expect the sound quality that I get from the Ruark R1S and it has every facility that I need.

Packs a Big Punch for a Little Guy
Purchased my R1S a month ago and so impressed. The build quality is excellent, the user interface simple and intuitive, and the sound is just amazing for such a small radio. Connection to the internet is both fast and stable. In addition, the Oktiv app works brilliantly, allowing you to control everything from your phone (android in my case). Overall, a real quality product and so glad I bought it.

An exceptional speaker worth every dollar
I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates premium sound quality. The Pros: The sound is incredible – especially given the unit's compact size. I have never heard anything so clear, crisp, and well-rounded from a speaker this small. The design and finish are excellent, if not beautiful. The initial unit set-up and user interface navigation are very intuitive. The Airable integration is also fantastic, allowing me to easily store custom radio URLs in the R1S presets. The Cons: The lack of built-in AirPlay is a drawback, as audiophiles will want to avoid the compression and degradation of Bluetooth. To fully utilise a speaker of this calibre, native support for Apple Music and Tidal (which prioritise high-res audio over Spotify) would be a welcome addition. Furthermore, the Oktiv app feels unpolished; it is currently slow and functionally limited, and it lacks Apple Watch support. Hopefully this improves with future updates. Overall: I am incredibly happy with this unit. I also owe a humorous “thank-you” to Bose for degrading their SoundTouch ecosystem overnight; while that forced transition was frustrating and costly initially, it ultimately introduced me to the superior Ruark product range. Ruark truly owes Bose leadership a case of wine for sending clients their way.
