Amazon Echo Dot Max small but mighty speaker

The Amazon Echo Dot is a fantastic product. It comes with everything you need to set it up, the speaker, power lead and a simple set up instruction leaflet. It was very easy to set up you simply plug the speaker in and wait whilst it updates, which it prompts you to do, then open the Alexa app and link the Amazon Echo Dot Max to your account. The sound which comes out of the speaker is extremely good it is very clear and almost surround sound like, which is great for the size of the speaker. I cannot fault the Amazon Echo Dot Max at all it's a great speaker and is absolutely perfect for any room in the house and is so easy to use.

Underwhelming: The Dot Has Peaked

​I’ve been a loyal Echo user since the early days of the Dot. But the new Echo Dot Max is easily the most frustrating. I hoped this would sit nicely between the basic Dot and the Studio, but honestly? You are better off buying two or more Echo Pops for the same money. ​ Amazon markets this as a massive leap forward with Alexa+ and the new chip, but in daily use, it feels exactly like the previous generation—or worse, because you paid for it to be better! E.g., I can use the app, but it refuses the voice command to 'drop-in' on my other dots, which happily interact with each other. ​The Max has better internals, but the sound is marginally improved. Is it £55 better? No. I'd hoped the connectivity issue would be less prounced. Again, no. Same old probs, higher price tag. Despite the new processor it hears as well as my other Dots and it drops Wi-Fi just as often as my £45 Pop does. Why does it still sometimes take 3 seconds to turn on a smart bulb? ​Maybe the Dot Line has plateaued. ​On a brighter note, the temperature sensor is useful.

Marvellous with a Mighty sound

On opening I was very suprised that it's half the size of previous models. The Echo Dot Max is exceptionally easy to set up with clear guides and instructions. Once powered, I played all my favourite songs which vary in range, from country to hard rock. The musical beat is mighty and the sound is crystal clear, the artist singing could almost be in the same room as you. Overall a genius product to have in the home and takes up no room at all.

Best speaker I’ve owned!

I am so impressed with the Amazon Echo Dot Max! Happily surprised when unpacking it to discover its slick small modern style that fits in any room. As soon as I played a song through this I was actually shocked at the quality of its sound - best speaker I’ve ever owned. Set up using the Alexa app and WiFi was straight forward and easy process!

Great addition to the Alexa Amzon range

Very quick and easy to set up. Sound quality is amazing, the tap feature to snooze alarms, (to early in the morning to be talking) and mute music is a great added feature. Great size. Would definitely recommend.

Incredible sound!

I thought the very first Echo Dot was fantastic but the sound on this Echo Dot Max is incredible...I played a song through the speaker and at first I thought it was interference until I listened on and it was actually rain and then a massive clap of thunder. I actually could've been listening to a live thunderstorm! This is a real fabulous speaker which doesn't distort even on full volume. Very easy to set up and pair with my phone and TV. Not a space taker either, I have this placed on my kitchen work top...Love my new Echo Dot Max and I would definitely recommend this.

A device that listens to your commands 🤣

Review xxx Love that the echo dot blends into any room decor. This device picks up voice commands even with background noise. Sound quality is superb. Crisp, clear and no distortion, even at full volume. Being able to control other smart devices from the echo means life is much simpler

Great device

Great item, Previously I had one of the original echo dot. This is a much better upgrade. Its slightly bigger but the sound quality is fantastic from such a small device. Much better than previously. Really easy to set up, literally took seconds with the alexa app.

A Premium mid priced speaker

I have never had an Amazon Dot or Echo speaker, I always used an alternative and so had generally avoided them until now. Although as a family we do like our speaker in the kitchen, to listen to music or a podcasts whilst cooking, or when helping the boys with homework questions sitting at breakfast bar, so it gets used. In terms of unboxing there isn’t much, the Echo has a plug adaptor as well as the unit itself. The quick start guide was all I used setting up, as an android I was unsure if it would work well. I am pleased to say it worked seamlessly, I needed to download the Alexa app from play store first though. Once thats done it guides you from there, but there was also a QR code on the paperwork to help you with setup. All you need is the App + passwords for your amazon account, plus any account pws you link like Spotify or the Wi-fi. All told I had it all up and working in less than five minutes, from unboxing to listening to a podcast. In use, the Dot Max was an upgrade on what I had, sound was certainly clearer. The smart speaker is covered in “3D knit fabric,” a mesh that surrounds the speaker , its quite understated in a charcoal colour i had. The echo has a nice curvy design and is a compact at 4.3x4.3 so it takes up less of our kitchen counter top space. The echo uses Alexa+, the more premium assistant that’s included with Amazon Prime subs, this is supposed to be more natural. This all worked well enough from what I have heard / seen in action , again improving on what I had before. In conclusion, the Dot Max is a good speaker, esp if you care about the sound that’s the main sell, alongside general ease of use as it does all usual Alexa “stuff” quickly and easily. Certainly its better than cheap options out there, however a pop is cheaper and effectively does much of the same, so if you’re on budget then the smaller option may work as well. What I liked most: A good sound quality for the size Clean and minimalist design that would fit pretty much anywhere Accessible controls on a front panel and are clear and easily reached. Ease of setup.
