This does not work as described with solar panels. The solar functionality is not supported by the Monta app.

Generally speaking there should be no reason for any charger to be affected by a charger, as it is just the amount you are billed for the power you consume.
However, in most cases Octopus wants to control the vehicle (as far as we are aware) so the charger could be put into a plug-and-charge mode to prevent it interfering with this.

Thanks for your query about the Masterplug Type 2 7.4kW EV Charger.
This is designed to be connected to a mains power supply but can be solar powered instead. Its installation, whichever the means of powering it, must still be done by a qualified/accredited electrician.

From the information we have available, I can advise you can use the Masterplug Type 2 7.4kW EV Charger in an outbuilding without Wi-Fi. The charger itself does not require an internet connection to function. It is designed to provide dynamic charging at rates up to 7.4kW (32A), which translates to a rapid gain of up to 30 miles of range per hour.
However, some of the smart features, such as remote control and monitoring via the Monta App, would not be accessible without an internet connection. If you only need the basic charging functionality, the charger will work perfectly fine without Wi-Fi.

The supplier has advised the following for the Masterplug Type 2 7.4kW EV Charger:
"The Masterplug charger should be connected to the internet by either Wi-Fi or Lan cable, once online the app will ask for authentication before charging to prevent other users from using the unit."

Thank you for your enquiry. Yes, this charger can be set up for anyone to use. You need to set the charge mode on the Installer app to ‘Plug and Charge,’ which will allow the charger to function as a dummy charger.
