Including a Multi-purpose and Hard Floor Scrub attachment, this versatile spot cleaner is suitable for use on; carpet, upholstery, stairs, car interiors and sealed hard floors. I bought this with the specific intention of dealing with pet messes, because of course, they don't do it on the easy to clean hardwood floors. They much prefer to do it on the soft furnishings and minimal carpet we have in the house! I've only used it a couple of times so far, but I'm impressed. It managed clean up dried-in cat puke on a fairly plush, light coloured carpet with no sign that the vomit had ever been there. The carpet dried quickly after use and the machine is much quieter than I expected. It only loses a star because it seems you can't control the radius of the spray area. Consequently, for a small clean up patch, you end up having to dry a much bigger area and that inevitably takes (unnecessarily) more time. Still, I'm sure we'll figure out a workaround and continue to use this handy gadget.

I can advise that this can be used on older stains. I would recommend obtaining and correctly diluting the Vax carpet cleaner solution, spraying the stain with the carpet cleaner, using the scrapper end to work the solution into the stain and then letting it soak in for 5-10 minutes before then going over it. You may have to repeat this several times. Some very dark or very old stains may not come out entirely.
