Excellent 4K security camera
Really impressed with the Tapo C560WS. The 4K picture quality is excellent and gives a very clear, detailed image both during the day and at night. The pan and tilt feature is smooth and provides great coverage around the property. Motion detection and tracking work well, and the Tapo app is straightforward and easy to use. The camera feels well made and, being wired, the connection has been reliable. Overall, a very good outdoor security camera and definitely worth the money. I would recommend it.

Great camera! But TP-Link need to look at SD card
Perfect picture quality, can even zoom in about from about 5 metres and see slugs wriggling as they move across the grass! Sensitivity is excellent and has a good and easy tweaking method. The pan range is superb. Night vision is very good. I’ve found that using the ‘smart’ function (switching to spotlight when detecting) actually leads to a couple of seconds of ‘black screen’ when switching back from spotlight to night vision. For this reason I’ve left just night vision activated. In terms of connectivity I’ve had no problems and the cameras are situated about 15 metres from our router. No loss of signal. ONLY criticism is SD card compatibility. Despite saying the camera is capable of taking up to 512 GB, I have tried a good quality 512 GB SanDisk SD card but it is not possible to format it. The camera app states that “This card's unusually expanded capacity could jeopardize your data. It's advised to replace the SD card.” SanDisk 512 GB SD cards are ‘supposedly’ lab tested by TP-Link for compatibility and stated as compatible. Annoyingly the same message appeared when trying with 256 GB SD card, although this card was not declared as tested, but was nonetheless a good quality card. I’ve now decided just to leave a 128 GB SD card installed, which is the same brand as the 256 GB SD card already mentioned, and there are no problems. So, either subscribe to the yearly cloud storage, or settle for the 128 GB SD cards.

Great camera
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great 4k camera, if a little larger than I expected. Picture quality is excellent, inc facial recognition. Pan & tilt works seemlessly all the time, but I hardwired the ethernet cable, as with wiFi there was a bit of lag. Altogether great camera, great price, and speedy delivery.

Hello there,
Tapo C560WS 4K 8MP Outdoor Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera:
The Tapo C560WS supports both Wi-Fi and a wired Ethernet connection, allowing you to connect it directly to your router using an Ethernet cable for a more reliable network link.
Thanks for using Q&A
Hi,
The Tapo C560WS is a camera powered by a 12V DC power adapter and requires a power socket to operate. It is not a battery-powered camera and therefore cannot be powered by a solar panel.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
It is generally not recommended to use an extension cable to power the camera, as this may affect its performance. Please consider the following points:
1. The material and length of the extension cable may cause the voltage reaching the Tapo camera to be lower than the voltage it requires to operate, resulting in some unusual behavior, such as the camera automatically restarting at night or getting stuck when panning and tilting.
2. Using extension cords outdoors may also increase the risk of lightning damage, which may void your product's warranty.
3. If you must use an extension cord, please consider a cable with 22 AWG or thicker wire to minimize voltage drops and ensure your camera receives adequate power. Additionally, ensure the cable is properly waterproofed and lightning-protected.
For optimal performance, we recommend using the original power adapter and cord that came with the Tapo camera.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi the SD card is used to store your clips locally. You access your clips using the tapo app. There is no need to access the camera.
In regards to Your second question technically yes they could take your camera off the wall and take your SD card so you wont have any clips from that camera. In that case you can store clips to the tapo cloud. Personally I use SD cards in my cameras.
Hi Beth,
Regarding the Tapo C560WS 4K 8MP Outdoor Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera, you can choose from local microSD storage up to 512GB or the secure Tapo Care cloud service
With the SD card option, you do not not need to remove the SD card to view footage, this can be done via the Tapo app after set up

Thank you for using Q and A.

Hi Ratty,
The maximum diameter of the Tapo C560WS network cable is 19.90 mm.
The maximum diameter of the DC power adapter is 10.8 mm.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Ratty,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Tapo C560WS 4K 8MP Outdoor Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera: ''Based on the specifications for Tapo cameras using DC power supply, the coaxial plug/connector has the following dimensions:
• Inner diameter: 2.1mm
• Outer diameter: 5.5mm
• Length: 9mm
To pass the power cable through a wall or window frame, you'll need to consider both the connector size and the cable thickness. The connector's outer diameter is 5.5mm, but the power cable itself may be thicker than the connector.
I would recommend drilling a hole approximately 8-10mm (or about 3/8 inch) in diameter. This should comfortably accommodate the connector and cable while allowing for easier threading through the hole. If you want to be certain, you can measure the thickest part of your power cable (including the connector) before drilling.
Note: Make sure to properly seal and waterproof the hole after installation, especially if this is for outdoor use, to prevent water ingress and maintain the camera's weather resistance.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
