About this product
The Candy GD 498-80 washing machine is designed for busy households needing powerful, efficient laundry care. This freestanding appliance washes cottons, synthetics, delicates, darks and mixed fabrics with ease. Featuring a 9kg drum capacity and 1400rpm spin speed, it handles large family loads while achieving A-rated energy efficiency. The MixPower System delivers water and detergent directly onto clothes for deep cleaning that protects delicate fibres. With 16 programmes including 8 quick wash options from 14 to 59 minutes, it offers flexibility for rapid refreshes or full cycles.
The Smart Spray activates during rinsing, directing water onto the porthole window and gasket to prevent dirt and detergent build-up for hygienic, bacteria-free performance. A clear LED display with dial control, 24-hour delayed start, and time remaining indicator simplify programme selection. The machine uses cold water fill with a pause facility for convenience. At 69dB noise emission and A noise class, it runs quietly. Measuring H85, W60, D55cm and weighing 66kg, this plug-in appliance includes variable spin speed, temperature control, and a 10-year parts and 1-year labour guarantee.

Not accurate measurements / timer issue
The depth of the machine is not 55cm as it says on Argos website but 59 including door which caused me big problems. Also when I try to put timer on sometimes it stops after 3hrs and doesn’t let me set longer unless I restart the process.

Quick installation and quiet/easy to use machine
Quick and seamless installation from the team. Machine is quiet and includes several short cycles which is perfect for quick washes! Also like the fact that the machine has a specific drum clean cycle. Would recommend!

Very Quiet
Very quiet machine. It looks expensive. Missing a couple of things that my last candy had but I will get used to it. I don’t like the tune when you turn it on.

Mine isnt 59 minutes I think it depends on the weight it can be anywhere from 101
Mins to 215 mins on cotton cycle which isnt great wish I had known this before purchasing there are not many cycles that u can put the full 9kg load on either
Definitely worth looking at the manual first before purchasing

Thank you for using Q&A
i think that might be happening because your load is too heavy when wet so doesnt spin properly or the setting you used was a slower speed to spin out water more.
hope this helps
On many machines there is a no-spin option to stop the clothes getting wrinkled - especially on a cycle done remotely.
Did you try the eco cycle - it is slow, but saves energy and water.
Hello Marie,
I can advise the following for the Candy GD 498-80 9KG 1400 Spin Washing Machine - White:
This does have a spin cycle within the programs, however its effectiveness will be down to the load being balanced and it's speed selection.
If the load isn't balanced then the drum won't spin at its set speed causing the load to come out wetter than it should.
Thanks for using Q & A.
