Very pleased with new sat nav. Wanted one that warned of changing speed limits and accidentally going over limit. Even if I only avoid one speed fine, the garmin would pay for itself.

Easy to Set Up
I found it really easy to set up and to update the maps. The screen and sound is clear . I find the verbal instructions a little misleading if i don't follow the map on the screen. I find looking at the screen and concentrating the road a challenge but that might just be me. I could do with a larger screen but I have a small car so decided to opt for a small screen, It is easy to put in the postcode and address of the destination. I also use it for driving around areas I know because I can remind myself of differernt road names.

Doesn't recalculate and make new route if you went a differnt way as u prefer that way than the way it sent u it just constantly tries to take you back even when you been on the new way along time. The loudest setting is extremely quiet

I have been using a Nuvi 55 since 2016 which is still going well but decided to upgrade to a newer version. Will keep the Nuvi55 in reserve. I find the Garmins to be first class in operation and map updates. I can recommend the brand based on my experience.

1. It can function without one, but we strongly recommend investing in one, as the maps can be large, and you can run into issues without the extra storage space.
2. I can't say unfortunately, we update our devices whenever we identify a problem that requires one. Best practice would be to check for updates once or twice a month to make sure it's all updated.
3. To ensure reliability, we would recommend updating using our computer application, Garmin Express. You can update over WiFi, but may run into issues if the WiFi connection isn't strong enough, or cuts out, even if only for a couple of seconds.
