I invested in another Garmin sat nav because it does something that Google Maps NEVER does: LANE GUIDANCE. This is *critical* on complicated motorways where there are several lane options to take and/or several lane options off of a slip road. Google Maps is utterly useless for these issues and will stay silent - meaning you can easily take the wrong road. Garmin has you covered and will never let you down with this critical guidance. It's also better than TomTom in that it doesn't give stupid directions like "after 300 yards, turn left". Well of course you're going to turn left AFTER 300 yards - otherwise you'd be driving backwards! This has got me where I needed to go and is perfect for the job. Yes it's clunky at times and updating is a chore. It also is quite fussy with certain places, for example a big mail depot where it asks for the "house number" - which obviously is ridiculous. But there were ways around that that I found. It's just your best friend for the road.
