Effective hair removal but I found it painful
I used this on my legs in replacement of shaving. I find shaving gives minimal smoothness as regrowth is fast. With the epilator, I found regrowth to be significantly slower - effectively like waxing regrowth. I found regrowth didn’t cause any ingrown hairs or irritation, which I have encountered with waxing in the past. The process is fairly quick and I could complete one leg within a couple of minutes. The unit is light and easy to hold, which makes it great for taking with you on any travels. The different attachments, such as the massage head, are useful with providing a variety of functions. The epilator, whilst offering slower regrowth, does not offer a pain free experience. I took one star off my rating as I have a low pain threshold and find it painful to use - it feels similar to an eyebrow threading experience - and for me I found that pain did not improve over time. I received the product as part of a product test and Philips has no influence on my review.

My previous one was rough on bikini area and sometimes made it bleed, but I don’t get it with this one. Definitely recommend!

Good product, would recommend as a first time user
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Once you get past the initial pain of epilators, it's a reasonably good product. I found it left behind some hairs but they're easy to find with the torch on the epilator. Although I find it doesn't give a 100% smooth finish, it has definitely reduced the amount of hair growth I experience & the frequency with which I need to shave.

Quick and easy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's so simple to use, quick and easy. I havnt used an epiltor before and thought it would really hurt but it didn't there were a couple of bits that were more sensitive but after a couple of uses you get used to it. I used to shave and would forever be cutting myself no more and also I have noticed the speed at which my hair grows back meaning I dont have to do it every few days but once a week is plenty to keep ontop of unwanted hair especially as I have PCSO my hair grows back quickly. I love the fact there are 2 speed settings and the built in light which makes it easy to see the hairs. I also love the fact that you can change the head making it a shaver as well as a epilator, you get everything you need in the box.

Great starter epilator for a novice!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After hearing mixed views on epilation, it was with some apprehension I started testing the Philips Epilator Series 4000 (BRE257/00) as a complete novice. Not having a high pain threshold, I used the massage cap to begin with for a gentler sensation and was pleasantly surprised by how gentle the process was to remove hair. The LED light on the epilator is a great idea as it is easier to spot any missed hairs with this. The shaving head also included is good for any touch ups required. Getting the correct angle for the best hair removal does take a few times to perfect, but once you get the hang of it, the easier it becomes. To sum up, the results so far have been extremely good in removing hair and leaving my skin smooth. For a novice to epilating I would certainly recommend giving this model a try.

The perfect gadget for smoother skin
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Philips Epilator Series 4000 BRE247/00 and overall it’s become my go-to for at-home hair removal. It’s corded (so no battery worries), yet compact enough to grip comfortably in one hand. The LED light helps me spot even fine hairs and I like having two speed settings for sensitive areas vs tougher spots. The massage cap softens what can be an awkward tugging sensation at first. It leaves me smooth for up to four weeks, which saves a lot of time compared to weekly shaving. On the downside, it’s not cordless and sometimes I find certain areas more challenging to reach, but for the price and performance I think it’s a solid starter epilator.

Great Epilator
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Im really impressed with how good the epilator is, it removes hair efficiently and has left my skin feeling smooth and great! The epilator is lightweight and easy to use. It can be used on both wet and dry skin which is an added bonus. The multiple speed settings and attachments are great also it comes with a little bag so you can take it with you on holiday / stays away, it is so compact. I would definitely recommend giving this epilator a try.

Great product

The epilator does take a little bit of time to get used to, but is effective at removing hairs from the root. This also comes with a little storage bag to keep all the items together. I would recommend this product.

Excellent hair removal system
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The "philips" epilator series 4000 hair removal system is excellent, detachable heads for different hair removal areas. The shaving head leaves a very smooth feel on my skin with no tugging or dry patches, the epilator head can get a little getting used to but with perseverance this does keep hairs away for a longer period, the bikini trimmer head is fabulous on those intimate areas, they also have combs that attach easily to help with any unruly hairs. The massager really does help keep the skin calm especially whilst using the epilator head. Loving the fact its corded with a good length cord really helps keep the tempo of shaving at a good thrust unlike battery shavers. The body of the shaver/epilator is very sturdy, a lovely feminine colour, and is a perfect size meaning it gives a perfect grip whilst in use, a bonus that it has a light built in. The whole system is very easily cleaned with the use of the small brush. My only negative is the pouch is a little flimsy whilst holding all the accessories/attachments, but a problem that can be easily rectified. A super hair removal system with all the accessories/attachments needed for a full female grooming as if salon professional from home. Highly recommended.
