Metal base not as expected
This lamp is cheap for a reason! Although the description does say 'natural wood effect', I expected the base to be made from a laminate of some kind with a synthetic veneer so that it least made some attempt at resembling real wood. In fact, the base is made of metal with a very unrealistic wood-effect paint job. On checking, I discovered the word 'metal' in the small print spec online but it really was not at all obvious at first glance, and the box containing the lamp itself clearly says "glass & wood" which is a complete lie. Returned without even plugging it in. You get what you pay for!
