Love this machine. When coupled with costa coffee granuals its amazing. Yes its a bit of a faff, takes a while and you have to clean it, but its still worth it. Thanks Ninja.

Brilliant machine for real coffee lovers
This Ninja coffee machine is fantastic. It makes rich, smooth espresso with a great crema, and the hot water feature is ideal for americanos. The built-in grinder is easy to adjust, and I love how quick it is once you get used to the settings. It feels solid and looks great on the counter. Cleaning and descaling are simple too. I’ve basically stopped buying coffee out — this makes café-quality drinks at home.

Close to greatness - but a few issues
On the whole, I do love my Luxe Cafe and it is a machine that doesn't really have competition in this price bracket. No other machine at this price point can do all of the things the Luxe Cafe can: competent espresso drinks, cold coffee drinks and filter style. The machine is well designed from an end user standpoint and is a pleasure to use. There are however several glaring issues that make it imperfect. The main one being espresso shot volume consistency is very poor among these machines and it's a well documented problem online from those who measure their shots with scales. Using the same grind and settings you could get 30g of espresso or 60g of espresso. Dialling in is extremely difficult because of this and Barista Assist is all over the place. Many people have returned their machines over and over and not had the issue resolved so it appears to be an inherent design flaw. I also dislike the amount of waste water that is produced which is excessive compared to the amount of coffee you are getting. I also dislike that the milk frother on the lowest froth setting (steamed milk) makes an unbelievably loud screeching noise that is so unbearable you can't use it and you have to steam the milk manually instead. This machine is so close to perfect and I hope that these issues can resolved in an updated production run or a version 2 one day, perhaps even something that existing users can send their machine in to be updated to resolve these problems.

What a great coffee machine
This is a replacement for my old bean to cup automatic machine and I have to admit I’m very pleased with the machine, the coffee it produces and the versatility. Love the way you can use it for different types and styles of coffee and it effectively does the work of at least two coffee machines (three if you include the grinding function). A great purchase for those of us that love coffee, don’t have infinite room for kitchen gadgets and like value for money in terms of functions and versatility.

The Ninja ES601UKBK does not have a dedicated “hot chocolate” button or preset, but you can make hot chocolate manually using its hot water dispensing function and milk frother by dispensing hot water into your mug with cocoa powder or mix, froth milk separately using the steam wand or frothing system and combine for a café style hot chocolate.
This coffee machine is only compatible with whole bean coffee. For best results, use the grinder on the machine when grinding.
The coffee machine can only be used with coffee beans. Coffee capsules and pods are not compatible.
