Good home monochrome printer
Bought to replace a Canon colour inkjet printer which require a new ink printer head. A new canon part would have cost the same as this new Brother laser printer. Logical to set up and use, and way, way cheaper to run Monochrome only.

EASY PEASY
Purchased this Brother laser printer because I was fed up of my old printers ink drying up. Very pleased with it print cartridge supplied, easy to set up on my laptop (note to older generation: let your laptop find the printer - don't be thinking you need to download the printer driver). I also have the printer app on my phone so I can print direct from there.

Good value, but can be difficult to set up
Once the printer is set up, it seems to work very well, however, I have a Chromebook with a chrome OS and although this printer says it is compatible, I could not set it up myself and had to contact Brother customer services and it was not straightforward. Not it is working though, for the price it seems very good value.

Great little printer
Great little printer, plugged in and connected to Wifi easily. Prints via AirPrint straightaway. No need for bespoke apps (you don’t even need the Brother one) and no nonsense subscriptions for ink.

Black printer - just what I needed!
Took quite a while to set up and link to my devices, but that was down to me not being computer savvy! Seems all good now, and easy to use once I linked my devices to the printer.

The Brother HLL1242W Mono Laser Printer uses the TN-1150 black toner cartridge. This cartridge prints approximately 1,000 pages and has a separate drum unit, the DR-1150, which lasts for around 10,000 pages.
