It does cool, but it's loud
Only had the chance to use during one heatwave, and am not intending to use the dehumidifier or heating functions. Here are the pros and cons of cooling with this product. + Cools the room quickly + Manually adjust airflow direction up and down and side to side (look inside the vent on the right hand side for the black tabs) + Flexible window cover is easier enough to install + Accurate temp to +/- 0.5 by my central heating thermostat thermometer + Easy to clean filters - Loud! Too loud to have a telephone conversation in the same room - Heavy, though it does have casters, and finger grips. - You expect to shut your room door to keep it cool? You can't. The machine is venting hot air out of the window, and that air has to be replaced. The pressure drop will suck in the window cover, and create a major draught under the door as the pressure tries to equalise. You may as well wedge the door open a bit! - After it's used, before being putting it away, there's a bit of water that need draining from the bottom hole. You're supposed to raise it up and let it flow through a ribbed tube into a container. The machine needs tipping up even when raised (as the hole it close to the floor), and the water gets stuck in tube. You'd think it would evaporate, right? Sadly not, and you can't put it away wet. If you can find a 'smooth' tube that will fit, or risk tipping it onto a towel instead, I'd do that. Still looking for a way, and it's been days. If you're desperate to get cool, you're going to overlook the faults just to find some relief. In hindsight, I'd perhaps look at other products for some real world reviews.

Meaco 9K MC9000CH
Works well in a 9ftx13ft room. Downsides are that it is quite loud and there is not much difference in noise between the two high and low speed settings, plus the moisture collection tanks on the unit have to be emptied every few hours on hot days when it is running all day.

Disappointed
I bought this a few weeks ago. It was noiser than I had hoped. Therefore can't leave it running at night.

Broken after 1 day
Bought before one of the hot weekends that we've had, I set it up and was really good. Unfortunately the next day it broke down, the fan would not work, everything was excellent up till then. No replacement in stock and to get fixed with manufacturer would have taken a while

4 in 1 features so you can use all year round
Bought this month ago and it is amazing. Have had it on every night in the last 2 weeks. Don't know how we lived without it. While everyone is complaining they are not sleeping, we are sleeping like babies

Excellent does what it’s designed for

Wonderful!
After a few years of debating whether we really need one of these, I am so glad we finally purchased it. On the super warm evenings we turn it on and the kids' bedroom, or other space we all use, is cooled down within no time. On most of the warm nights we only have it on for an hour or two, although we'd be happy to leave it on overnight if needed. It is a little heavy to move around but absolutely doable, and we have the pipe/hose thing out the windows with some blankets or other things to cover the space. I'll say ambient for noise level - it is 'loud' but no more than our fans were before, and the kids don't mind it, even helps them acting as white noise or something! It has been so useful and worth the investment.

keeping our cool
Bought this in preparation for the heat waves, and it was delivered on time by a most helpful man. It certainly does the trick keeping us cool and is easy to operate.

Economy unit
Not the best portable unit out there but one of the cheaper ones. Cons; hose connection isn't very stable, cold air comes out tonthe left (direction grill does not a lot), and noisier than equivalent units. Pros; lighter and more compact.

Hello Roy,
The supplier has advised the following for the Meaco 9K MC9000CHBTU 3 in 1 Air Conditioner:
“ Yes, 51–53 dB while cooling is correct and consistent, like all mono-block portable air conditioners, the compressor and condenser are inside the unit itself, so some background noise is unavoidable — unlike split or fixed systems where that part is kept outside. That said, we always test our products in a sound chamber for accuracy. A good tip is to pre-cool the room before use, then switch the unit to fan or sleep mode for quieter overnight use. ”
Thanks for using Q & A.

Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Meaco 9K MC9000CHBTU 3 in 1 Air Conditioner: To note, all our units are designed and packaged ready to be vented via a window. Not to say that venting through a wall is not an option, many customers have let us know that they have done this successfully, the important thing to note is to allow adequate space for the duct to pass through the hole and avoid restricting the air flow by reducing the duct as this can overwhelm the unit with excessive build up as it’s unable to pass/vent as designed. The duct diameter is 150mm, also before drilling the hole, ensure you’re happy with the location of the unit to be permanently used in that spot.
Thank you for using Q&A.

Hello Chris,
The supplier has advised the following for the Meaco 9K MC9000CHBTU 3 in 1 Air Conditioner:
“ Yes, both heating and cooling functions on the MC Series are powered by a compressor-based system.
We don’t publish official COP or SCOP figures for these models, as they’re designed primarily for spot heating and cooling rather than fixed installation efficiency. For cooling, you can refer to the running cost figures provided on our website. For heating, COP is very difficult to calculate accurately due to the number of installation and environmental variables involved. That said, in a like-for-like environment, heating typically costs less to run than cooling. ”
Thanks for using Q & A.

Hi Joey,

Page 9 in the manual advises:
Air Conditioner Principles
Cooling works best in a well-sealed room with as little heat gain from sunlight as possible. We advise
keeping all doors, windows and curtains/blinds closed before using the air conditioner in order to stop
the room getting hot in the first place. This is especially useful in bedrooms where pre-cooling the
room before going to bed is more sensible than trying to sleep with an air conditioner turned on in
the room.
