Bravely Default is an outstanding RPG, very much channeling old school Final Fantasy. It was very well suited to the DS and it was amongst my favorite games on the system. Having just picked up a switch 2, I grabbed this as it's a mid-budget title and nostalgia got the better of me. The game is just as good as it was in 2012 and the game up-scales pretty well. The cutscenes can be a bit rough with artifacting, but otherwise it still holds up and the sound/music quality is excellent. A couple of things have been added such as cure party from Bravely Default 2, but nothing substantial. There are also some minigames added to the main menu, but they use the mouse function of the switch so feel gimmicky and don't really add anything to the game. Just as a word of caution, this is one of Nintendo's "Game Key Cards" though, so you are essentially just buying a piece of plastic that must be in the card slot to play, even though the game has to be downloaded/not on the card. If I had the choice, I would not support this practice but nostalgia won in this case and I wanted a physical product rather than just a code on paper. Overall, its a decent remaster and I am enjoying my time with it. Had this not been a budget title and been priced at Nintendo's outrageous new top-end RRP for games, this would have been a hard sell though.

I bought this shortly after receiving my switch 2. I don't think it really needed to be an exclusive to switch 2, it really doesn't need the extra horsepower. But the game itself is so very good! If you enjoy old school final fantasy, this would be right up your street.
