Great starter telescope
I bought this for my 8 year old grandson for his birthday. He loves it and likes the fact that he can attach his iPhone to it and use the app

Child's toy
40 pounds for nothing really. The lens are so small it's hard to see anything maybe okay for a 6 year old but not an adult and even then for £40 I would have expect more even for an adult God knows what a child can see with it. Useless. Poor quality even for a toy. Pros: the stand was best about it. Cons: I feel like iv been conned.

Grand-daughter loved it
I bought this as a first telescope for my grand-daughter's birthday and she was thrilled. I especially like the connection for a smart phone.

Didn't work[not fit for purpose
Very disappointed with the product. Was bought as a Christmas gift for my nephew. Was shocked and dismayed upon visiting them that the telescope has never worked at all and they can see nothing through it at all. Also a part fell off too. I went to speak to Argos staff who were very defensive and not very helpful or friendly and said we have to speak with the manufacturer. They could not give me the manufacturer details and then said it would need to be inspected and if not accident damaged would replace or refund it. I hope they will as this is the least they can do after taking good money for such a shoddy item.

Fell apart, not worth the money.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter. It snapped as soon as I took it out of the box, really badly made so I had to return it.

Terrible - don't buy!
Really awful quality. Returning this product. Range is awful and even looking at a large full moon is impossible to get it to focus correctly to get a clear image. Bought for my son and was supposed to be simple to use. For £40 this should be far better.

Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Star Finding Telescope: No, it doesn't.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q & A
It's ready to go straight from the box. We didn't use the phone option though so not sure on that.
Hello Mickey,
I can advise the following on the Star Finding Telescope:
Yes, you are able to use it straight from the box. The phone mount is only there to help you use the app to find the stars or consolations you are wanting to look at. You aren't able to use it to photograph the sky.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello there,
Yes, The phone is only there as an aid to help you find your way around in the sky.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Sorry to add more negativity - I tried to download the SkyView app but it told me my phone was not compatible - and it cost a whole lot more than the telescope - which, though displayed under the gifts for him filter, I see is merely a toy!
Hello there,
After contacting the supplier in full about this issues they have informed that there is no QR code given with this item and for you to just download the free version of the SkyLive app on ios or Android as this is what it designed to work with. I'm sorry that this couldn't be more helpful however there was never a QR code in the box or manual.
I hope this helps,
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello there,
Argos do not keep this information as it's packaged with the Telescope with the manufacture. You will need to contact them to be able to get a new QR code to help with setup.
I hope this helps,
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Lee,
The Star Finding Telescope cannot fit a finderscope, it is only for a mobile phone
Thank you for using Q&A.
I cannot say for certain, but I was unable to find one. The app was rubbish too.
Hello Grandad,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised: The magnification power is subject to the focal length and the specification of the eyepieces, if competitor offers same focal length of telescope the power would be similar as 4mm eyepiece is the highest power one in the market.
Hope this helps
Thank you for using Argos Q and A.
Hi NH,
Yes, the Appstore SkyView app requires iOS 12.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
The phone holder will not however fit with an iPad.
Thank you for using Argos Q&A
Hi Len,
This is designed for use with the SkyView app. It can be used without it however.
Thanks for using Argos Q&A.
This telescope is not at all good so light it moves with little wind phone is no good with telescope you can’t hold phone and move telescope not worth the money you can not adjust the lens enough
Hi Xian
Having checked with the supplier for you I can let you know
the phone mount will not help for the purpose of navigating the stars as the camera will not be facing the same way as the lens. They recommend to hold the phone in your hand to help with alignment.
Thanks for using Argos Q & A
