Changed my life – and my thighs!
I bought the Spear & Jackson 40cm Hand Push Cylinder Lawnmower expecting just a neat lawn. What I didn’t expect was a full lifestyle overhaul. My neighbours no longer avoid eye contact; instead, they lean over the fence and compliment my stripes like I’m some kind of turf artist. It’s not just a mower – it’s a personal trainer. After one session, my legs felt like I’d climbed Everest, my arms like I’d wrestled a bear, and my Fitbit thought I’d run a marathon. Who needs the gym when you can just push this glorious contraption around your garden? The sound is also magical. No roaring petrol engines, just a gentle whizz-whizz-snippety-snip that makes me feel like I’m in a wholesome 1950s lawn-care advert. Birds actually sing along. My cat follows me like I’m some kind of lawnmower messiah. In short: I now have a perfect lawn, a Greek statue physique in progress, and the respect of everyone on my street. This mower didn’t just cut my grass – it cut out my excuses.

Great little machine
My last electric mower gave up on me so I decided to go for this manual mower. So simple to put together. Great quality. Does the job. So glad I chose this. I have a feeling it will go on for many years to come.

Perfect for flat even garden
I bought this after my cordless battery powered mower died! Very well known brand that broke a few months out of warranty, shocker. I hate having wires especially when mowing so I thought I’d give this a try and so far it’s not disappointing me. It’s easy to build, I little force required. The adjustable height on the roller allows for cutting difference. So for long grass you have a bigger gap between the rollers and the blades then lower it as you mow. Yes you do need to be physically able to use this, your body is the power. This is definitely satisfying and helps you maintain a healthy body with no plugs, cables or petrol canister required.

Great push lawnmower
I got this push lawnmower as our petrol mower has served us well over many years and needed a bit too much money spent on it for continued use. I have been very pleased with this lawnmower. It does cut longer grass but this requires more effort in pushing. I would recommend keeping the grass on the lawn reasonably short. I don't use the box on the mower to collect the cuttings as a friend told me that to leave the cuttings lying not only feeds the lawn it reduces the amount of moss. For that reason I do not use the collection box which is a bit fiddly & often results in a lot of the cuttings falling out of the box on to the lawn when removing it

Good hand mower
I wanted a hand mower to be green and get a bit of exercise. This mower works well.

Not for me
Just used this for a fourth time on a small grass area. The cut is not as neat or even as my previous electric cylinder mower and for some reason, sometimes the wheels lock. The Design/Capacity and Features fields are all 'required fields before I can submit; the Design is reasonable, the Capacity box is large and there are no Features to speak of but I'm giving these one star because regardless of these, the end result is not a tidy, very well cut lawn.

Terrible to push not light weight

Superb push mower
Easy to assemble. The cut quality is excellent, no trailing leads, no pull start faffing and easy to push. Only downside is that the cuttings mostly miss the collection box but, this didn't matter for me and I use the mower without the box anyway. Very happy with this and, it starts every time 😂
