About this product
You can't see carbon monoxide, you can't smell it, but it can be lethal. This detector sounds an 85dB alarm when CO levels get dangerous, giving you time to get out and ventilate. It's got a BSI-approved sensor that lasts ten years, so you're covered for the long haul. Test button lets you check it's working properly. Runs on three AA batteries, which are included. Fits on a wall in the hallway, near the boiler, or anywhere you've got fuel-burning appliances. Simple setup, no wiring required.
The ten-year lifespan means reliable protection without frequent replacements. Works with most homes that have gas boilers, wood burners or other fuel-burning equipment. Compact design mounts easily wherever you need it. Batteries come in the box so you can set it up straight away. Ideal for keeping your household safe from an invisible, odourless threat that traditional smoke alarms won't detect.

Nice little carbon monoxide detector
I bought this carbon monoxide detector a couple of weeks ago, as my old one was showing a fault. This one has a 10 year life from date of manufacture, the manufacture date is printed on the side of the detector, and this one was already 2 years old, but I still have 8 years left so that's ok. It is easy to set up, it comes with several pages of instructions, but most of the pages are just the same instructions in foreign languages. You just need to slide the back down and off to access the battery compartment, in order to remove the plastic film off the 3 AA batteries supplied. The 3 LED indicators on the front are red for danger, yellow for faulty, and green for OK, though happily only green flashes on mine. One thing to be aware of, the green flashing light is very bright, the detector is set up in my kitchen so that's great, but it would be a problem if you wanted it for a bedroom. It's small and compact, overall I'm very happy with it.

Carbon monoxide alarm
Seems to be ok. Needed a new one as ours was 7 years old and had to be replaced. Not in stock at most Argos branches so has to travel a bit farther. Will only know how good it is when we actually have to rely on it !!!

Well priced, exactly what I needed
Bought this recently, our previous alarm having reached the expiry date and therefore no longer effective. This is a great size, easy to fix near the boiler without being too obtrusive and was also a great pric3. Couldn’t ask for more

Hi Polly,
The Smartwares Carbon Monoxide Detector Alarm has a 10 year sensor life.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Im not convinced this answer is correct. The laws regarding carbon monoxide detectors are different in Scotland compared to the rest of the UK.

Devices must be either mains-wired or use a sealed, long-life battery. Alarms with replaceable batteries e.g., AA or 9V are not compliant.
