An excellent printer.
Ive been delighted with my bargain priced Brother Laser jey printer. Not as heavy to move as I had expected I was easily able to move and position it upstairs without assistance and into my office. Unpacking was straightforward, with a lift from my other half to position it on the print cabinet. Setup, mainly removing the print packaging, and then wifi connection, was logical and uncomplicated. The process was far simpler than when I installed my previous printer several years ago. And it was in use and printing excellent quality material in within an hour and a half of delivery. Scanning, copying and printing services are all fast, of excellent quality and have improved my productivity and efficiency beyond recognition. I feel I've that I've moved from the 20th to the new century and would highly recommend this printer for home and small business use.

Move from inkjet to laser printing.
Needed to replace the old A3 Brother inkjet with something which could cope with extended spells of idle. This A4 colour laser printer/scanner came up and was competitively priced with an added cashback plus extended warranty bonus. No longer requiring the A3 facility also meant a welcome reduction in the footprint required allowing it to sit nearer to my desk. Setup was pretty straight forward following the quick guide. The print quality is what I'd expected from it with clear text and very good graphic printing on plain paper. It handled thin card for creating a set of place cards for a dinner table via the manual single sheet feed. Although less than a month has passed since purchase I am quite pleased with it based on the little amount of printing I have done. There are a couple of projects that probably going to require some major print work. It will be interesting to see how long the toner cartridges last.

MFCL3740CDWE
Needed a new printer and thought this would be a good replacement. It does everything I need it to. It has a Fax capability, but who uses Fax these days. A bit of a waste of tech. Prints are really good and the duplex saves paper. Scanning either by the document feeder or the flatbed is good. The down side of the printer is the cost of the toner.. will have to go see the bank manager for a loan.

Brother MFC-L3740CDWE Wireless Colour Laser Printe
Easy to set up. Print quality is good and the speed of prints is good too. Scanner feed works well, saves lifting the top cover everytime you need to scan something. Has USB, ethernet and wireless connectivity, agin all easy to set up. Paper tray has plenty of room for a ream of paper, also has a front load sheet feed. Prints duplex as well so saves paper.

Printer with constant problems
I bought this to replace 10year old Brother DCP-9020CDW. Physically and functionally similar but the 9020 is still printing with good quality. The 3740 is a constant battle against drum errors and quality issues. I have spent 100s changing cartridges and drums but barely a week goes by without it stopping with a toner or drum problem even when the print quality is good. The software seems to be created to encourage you to change drums early. I prefer to use the 9020 for consistent performance. It gives a drum error occasionally but that does not cause it to stop printing. I have just bought a Brother 6955 and am praying for less problems.

Brother MFC-L3740CDWE Wireless Colour Laser Printer
Having checked I can see this is a laser printer. The main difference between the two is that instead of a laser being used to beam the design onto the drum, an array of LEDs within the printer is used instead. This blinks the image or text that is being printed onto a positively-charged drum, creating a negative charge that attracts print toner, in the same way as laser printing.
