Good value for money - especially with cashback
I bought this to replace a colour inkjet printer. Main issue was that the inkjet cartridges are always drying up, an issue that laser printer don't have. I've been really impressed by the print quality of this printer. The scan speed is also really fast, which is very useful. Printer is a bit heavy, but overall I'm very happy.

Very expensive to run
I bought this printer for our Church office as it is a good capacity and quality machine. However it ran out of black toner after only 270 pages of printing. The OEM standard cartridge is supposed to give 1,000 pages so this was well short. OEM cartridges are very expensive so I contacted Brother Support for their advice but after over a week of waiting I have had no response other than to say it has been escalated to a second tier investigation. Very disappointing performance from a mainsteam printer manufacturer.

Brilliant but heavy
Had it over a week now and seems to be working good. A bit different to setup compared to an inkjet. Still going through all the things it can achieve. What I didn’t expect and possibly should have been made aware of at the time of purchasing and collecting, it’s REALLY HEAVY. Definitely needs two people to carry it.

Disappointed in the front load tray
I have a Brother DCP8070D printer which is not colour so I decided to buy a brother colour one as I have been very happy with it. The old one allows me to load several pages on the tray but the new one only allows one at a time and it has nothing to rest on. I would not have bought it had I realised. Otherwise it does everything I need.

Having checked I can see this is a laser printer. The main difference between the two is that instead of a laser being used to beam the design onto the drum, an array of LEDs within the printer is used instead. This blinks the image or text that is being printed onto a positively-charged drum, creating a negative charge that attracts print toner, in the same way as laser printing.
