Elegant clock
I’ve had this a week now and it keeps good time, The ticking is barely noticeable so not annoying. We bought it to replace a broken wall clock and I’m glad we swapped to a free standing clock. The finish and colour is quite nice and its overall appearance is very pleasing. If I was being picky I’d say it would have been nice to have a cover over the battery. So far I’d say its worth the money.

Thanks but this did not answer my question. The clock I bought had no cover for the battery compartment hence the battery was exposed. In your picture 3 of the clock, there is definitely a cover to hide the battery, hence I returned the clock today.

The supplier has advised for the Jones Clocks Islington Mantel Clock - Sage: There is nothing missing from this clock [Islington] . This design has an open back case so the movement is visible from behind.

Yes, there is a cover over the battery unit.
Thank you for using Q & A.
Hello Ste,
The supplier has advised the following for the Jones Clocks Islington Mantel Clock - Sage:
“ We understand that the volume of the tick can be a factor in the enjoyment and utility of your clock, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide some insight into this matter.
The ticking sound you will experiencing is a characteristic of quartz clocks, which can indeed vary in volume. This variation is due to several factors, including different brands of movements, the design of the clock case, and the materials used in construction.
These elements can influence how the sound is produced and perceived.
Heavier hands require more energy to move, potentially leading to a louder tick.
Longer hands exert more force on the movement, which can affect the sound.
The composition of the clock and its case can amplify or dampen the sound. For example, metal cases might echo the ticking more than wooden or plastic ones. Additionally the surroundings – for instance the amount of soft furnishing in a room, and the amount of background noise will affect how the tick is perceived. Additionally, perception of the tick varies person to person, and the same clock in the same room at the same time may be perceived as too quiet / too loud by someone and just right by a second person. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
