About this product
Cut your lawn with ease using the Spear and Jackson corded hover lawnmower. The powerful motor creates a cushion of air, letting you glide around your garden and tackle slopes traditional mowers struggle with. The steel blade suits small to medium gardens. Multiple cutting heights give you control over your finish. A collection box gathers clippings, or use the mulching feature to return finely cut grass to the soil.
Soft grip ergonomic handles with full-width power control reduce strain during longer jobs. Quick-release folding makes storage simple. The power cable provides good reach, and front wheels ease transport. Includes a guarantee.

only replacement wanted
Bought this as a replacement to my previous spears and jackson mower which had served me well for almost 10 years. Hopefully this one will be same.

This purchase replaces another of the same...
I bought this because it seemed the best value. It also is essentially the same model as I had before.....which has now given up the ghost.

Hover mower
I bought this a month ago , it's light weight and easy to use on a flat surface, tried the hover on my sloped garden and that was hard work, not recommend if your 60 or over, nearly done me in and I'm not quite 60.

Nice neat lawn
Bought a flymo which had to be sent back as it kept cutting out, so we thought we'd try a spear and Jackson for a change as we've only ever had flymos. So glad we made the change it is a lovely hover mower, easy to assemble and easy to use. Very neat trim. Very pleased.

A bit disappointed
I bought this to replace my old Spear & Jackson Mower. I am a bit disappointed that it has gone backwards with a couple of points. My old mower had a detachable mains lead, this one has a permanently connected lead making putting it away more awkward. Also on my old mower all I had to do to switch from mulching mode to collecting the clippings was to turn a knob. This one has an awkward insert that is designed to keep the lid open, it doesn't work the suction pulls the lid shut and I have to keep stopping and resetting it, very annoying. Why have you changed what was a perfectly good system?

Difficult
As I have dexterity problems I found this mower difficult to assemble the handles, had to wait for my nephew to visit. It is also quite heavy to use. Would not recommend.

Just what I needed
I bought this hover mower as we have a sloping lawn and pushing an ordinary mower was too hard for me (female aged 78). This mower is so light weight and easy to use, wish I had bought one years ago. Mowing the lawn is now a pleasure not a chore.

The upper and lower parts of the handle are fixed into place by screws into holes. You have to remove the screws completely if you want to store it in a smaller space. The handle does not fold .It comes apart when the screws and wingnuts are removed and when you need to use it again you need to put the screws back into the holes of both parts of the handle and then add the washers and wingnuts. There are no instructions for to the fold the handle . could you be talking about a different lawnmow
Hi Celeste.
Spear & Jackson 33cm Corded Hover Lawnmower - 1700W:
The upper handle can be folded down, unscrew the wing nuts by approximately 6. This is showing as part number 4 in the instructions. Please see the link below for the instructions:
