Disappointing from such a well known manufacturer.
Item returned because the auto feeder would not work. The plastic strimmer filament which had notches in it appeared to be sticking together in the spool preventing the auto feed. Bought because of recognisable brand name but too fancy, old Black and Decker lasted 20 years with no auto feeder and parallel filament. Apart from making a simple cheaper model it would be sensible to coat the filament with chalk or similar before winding on to the spool to prevent sticking.

BEST STRIMMER OUT THERE
Easy to put together, simple to use and cuts grass with ease, tilting head makes it easy to get in at all awkward angles and with the roller wheel on it you get a brilliant straight edge finish. I've had a couple over the years, won't use any other type and this one I've bought is for my father in law, he already loves it too. Bargain at the price.

Our supplier has advised the following regarding the Spear & Jackson 30cm Corded Grass Trimmer - 600W: "We would not advise for the customer to change the attachments, the machine was not designed for this and it would invalidate the warranty and the customer could also harm themselves"

I have checked the manual and you do not have to buy a new spool every time it ends. You can wind the line onto the existing spool.
