Dyson big ball. Near perfect
Very good vacuum with strong suction on pet hair. Can be a little too strong on some carpets making it awkward to move but the release button on it makes it much easier. It’s just learning what works best in each surface. The only thing that I wished you could do with it is wrap everything around like the baby Dyson they used to make. That was so space saving and a great vacuum that has lasted a long time. I wanted to get mum the same but his was the closest. Dyson still make the best vacuums. Pity the power switch and cord recoil buttons are much flimsier than they used to be, which when you consider the cost, they should be. Make them more robust and this would’ve been a 5 star reviews

Powerful suction
We've used Dyson cylinder cleaners for a few years now. The Big Ball Animal 2 is our third one. It has a very powerful suction, even when set to "Low" on the cleaning head. In fact, it's like having a workout at the gym when vacuuming on carpet! The suction is so powerful, it can be a bit of a struggle to push back and forth, but it's much easier on hard floors. The motor is very quiet compared to our previous models, and has a good long cable length. The quick release feature to empty the dust chamber is really handy. However, there's a little plastic hook which you need to release to open the flap, which appears to be a bit flimsy considering the strong tension required to hold the flap shut. Also the carrying handle doesn't seem robust enough to carry the weight (just over 7kg), but time will tell. The ball itself is larger than our previous model and struggles to sit on the stairs, a minor issue I guess. Overall a very good machine.

Great little vac
Finally replacing our old dc5. This works really well , lighter. More powerful. Better brushes, easier to clean the brush, quieter, decent cord length, takes up less space in cupboard than the old one. One concern so far is the catch holding the debris in when lifting out the cylinder to drop in to the bin. Its only little and tight margin for closing properly, can fall open when lifting up, needs and extra push shut.

Worth the money
I bought this 3 weeks ago, busy house high foot fall and two dogs. Worth the money, powerful and gets in all the awkward spaces. Great addition features especially the extendable hose as I am tall. I normally but an upright Dyson, this design is better.

Fine, but not premium quality
One of the first things that stood out to me when we received this hoover was that a lot of the parts (like power button, even the vacuum heads themselves) seem to be made of a rather flimsy plastic, which is not what I expected from a Dyson. One of the red strips from the bottom of the pneumatic head came off within minutes on the first use. It doesn't seem to have made a tremendous amount of difference to the function of the hoover, but it was still shocking to have something fall apart immediately. Otherwise, the suction is strong, and I like the ease of emptying out the canister. I also like that the brush bar on the turbine head is removable, which makes it easier to remove tangled hair. However, overall, I still wish we had chosen something that feels more durable. While this works fine now, I have some concerns about its long-term durability.

Dyson big ball cylinder vacuum
After having a shark lift away I found this Dyson much easier to use. Lighter, easy to maneuver, compact, great attachments. Very happy with performance and suction very good.

Hoover for hairless animals?
Do they really test these products in places with actual animals that shed real fur? I really had high expectations for this hoover. The main head just gathers it all into a clump and moves it about, the brush head is really small so you can’t actually use it on the full length pole and everything gets tangled in and around the brushes. Neither head is any good on a thick shaggy rug! I paid £35 for a goblin that performs better.

Hello, It's Danny at Dyson.
I can confirm that due to recent changes to the regulations these grades are no longer required. However our product page will have more information on the performance from our machines.
Hello, it's Shannon at Dyson. The main difference between the types of corded machines is the style; the upright machines are pushed in front of you to use the cleaner head and have a detachable hose and wand on the back, whereas the cylinder machines are pulled behind you and only use the wand and hose with the cleaner head. There would then be some performance and specification differences between the models. Please let us know if you have any further queries.
