The SMARTCHARGE 4 from Ring Automotive features an efficient nine-stage charging cycle and supports 6V and 12V batteries including Lithium-Ion. Its compact design, clear display, and intelligent one-touch operation make it ideal for maintaining cars, motorcycles, and caravans. Built with safety in mind, it includes polarity and short circuit protection and an IP65 weather-resistant design. Easy-to-use crocodile clips, a hanging hook, and o-ring connectors provide convenience without detaching the battery.

Very Good but instructions poor.
I wanted a trickle charger to use mainly for maintenance charging of my car as my 15 year old 0.75 amp one stopped working. I wanted one that would not overcharge the battery and this fitted the bill as it can be left in place when charging is complete. Has a clear LCD display showing charging rate and voltage and the word 'Full' when complete. Handy size with a hook for convenience and comes with alternative ring type connectors for motorcycle type batteries. I didn't give it 5 stars as the instructions are pretty poor and although I consider myself quite good at picture puzzles (plus I'm a retired electrical engineer), I had trouble deciphering some of them. Part of what little text there is says "Do not use in low temperatures". I think you are more likely to be using it in the winter! I have only used it once to date and it does the job

Bought thus to charge a flat battery. Once connected it took around 6 hours to fully charge. For info the charger displays FUL (one L!) When fully charged. Instructions are not clear but it is easy to work it out. Just repeatedly press the button until you see the correct mode that yiu require I.e 6V , 12V etc.

Hello There.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for Ring Smartcharge4 6/12v Smart Battery Charger.
The winter mode raises the charging voltage in order to compensate for sluggish battery chemistry when it is cold.
The voltage is increased by 200mV.
If there is ice or snow or frost on the ground then use the winter mode.
In addition if you have an AGM battery then also use the winter mode, at all times of the year irrespective of the weather
