Bought this last week. My husband put water in it to see what it was like. It is very heavy, produces too much steam and the little dots for heat indication are very difficult to see. Took it back to Argos but they wouldn't change it for a lighter model of the same make

Irons fine, a few common design issues
An upgrade from my last iron which from the cheap end of the market. True, this iron is heavier but unless you are really weak in the wrists then the weight is actually a benefit. My last iron was so light that I had to put more effort into ironing. The longer cord is good. So far, this iron works well. The dial for changing the temperature is easy to use EXCEPT that you can hardly see the markings 🤯. I have remedied that myself with blobs of nail varnish….. but I shouldn’t have to!! As with pretty much all irons it would seem, the visibility of the water level is really, really poor. Why don’t iron manufacturers ever read this on reviews and do something better?

Good Iron Shame You Can't See Heat Dial Markings
I have only used my iron twice since purchasing it and when heating is on 2 dots it is fine for delicate items and 3 dots for cottons. The only negative part of the iron I have found is the dial with 1, 2 and 3 dots on it. The dial is very dark and the dots are imprinted into the dial but are also dark so you cannot see them. This can be disastrous if you put the heating on the wrong heat. I am having to have a torch to check the temperature dial. I do feel Russell Hobbs have not thought of the safety aspect of this. If the temperature dial dots could be seen easily to read I would have given it 5*. As this is quite a serious problem are Russell Hobbs going to suggest how customers can see the dots without having to look with a torch.
