Doesn't work on bikini area 😞
I have been using this regularly now for ages and seen no improvement in my hair growth. I can't believe it as this was a lot of money for me to spend and I chose it over other devices thinking it would be the best. It is for my bikini area. I will continue to keep using it every two weeks in the hope I will see some results but it has been months since I should have moved into the touch up phase but instead I continue the fortnightly treatment plan because I am yet to see results. All I can do is keep using it and hope i see some results but as time goes on my heart is sinking that this expensive device just doesn't work. So disappointed. I had to save up for this.

Plenty of attachments
I have used my Lumia infrequently as I either forget to shave or run out of time, but even though I haven’t got into a regular routine I can see such a difference already. I think once I start using it properly all that will be left will be the grey hairs as expected. The attachments allow for accurate targeting of each area.

Good for arms, legs and face
The product works well in some areas and does not bring so much benefit to others. I would recommend for arms, legs and face but not so much for smaller and difficult to reach areas. The device is not easy to manage and to cover perfectly the areas being treated. Bikini area and stomach for example are cumbersome to treat and you are always wondering if it was properly done.

How IPL works:
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) sends out light energy.
That light is absorbed by melanin, the dark pigment in hair.
The absorbed light turns into heat, which damages the hair follicle and slows regrowth.
This works best when there’s dark hair + lighter skin (good contrast).
Why it doesn’t work on grey hair?
Grey (and white) hair contains very little or no melanin.
Has nothing for the IPL light to “lock onto”.
Because of that:
The light passes straight through the hair.
Not enough heat is generated.
The follicle isn’t damaged.
→ No reduction in hair growth.

The Lumea IPL devices are suitable for men on most body areas — but not for the face, neck, or genital area. The hairs in these areas have different characteristics, much thicker and denser. The skin may get burnt (with pain, prolonged skin redness and pigmentary changes).
In addition, do not use the device on the scalp or nipples.
The areas is it suitable for men are:

*Stomach
*Back
*Underarms
Philips designs the Lumea for cosmetic hair reduction, not for very dense or hormonally driven hair growth. Male facial hair absorbs too much light energy, which increases the risk of:
