Effect of high temperature
The first night I used it the temperature was the last night of the really hot weather (over 30 degrees). The pillow got warm pretty quickly and even turning it over did not help as it was warm right through. However, on using it when the heat had lowered to the mid 20 degrees, it was far more effective and lasted longer before it heated up. It is OK to lay straight on it and is comfortable enough. To be fair, who ever thought the UK would have such hot weather?!

Result not good enough to warrant cost.
Not really sure,what to say about this strange purchase, bought in desperation to cool my head down in heatwave weather. I have long hair and my scalp became hot and itchy. Saw this and was happy to try anything! Was not expecting it to be so heavy so carrying it home in the heat was the first problem!' Was initially impressed with size,as it covered the whole pillow and altho it might have helped a little with scalp cooling, lying on it was akin to lying on a brick! So tho I woke with maybe a slightly less hot and itchy scalp, my neck was quite stiff! The 2nd night I popped the gel pad into the fridge for a couple of hours before heading to bed but realised that was,a mistake,as it was uncomfortably cold, even when I'd put it under the pillow case and pillow protector. So, all in all, not the result I'd hoped for or expected but in fairness, it did help marginally. Was it enough to warrant the cost? Definitely not, sorry!

Cooling pillow.
I put it in the fridge for a couple of hours,it was really cool for about half an hour then not much of a cool feeling.it is OK and helps with the heat.

Worked wonders for my cat
Bought this for my cat to help her in the recent heatwave and she loved it! (She's not a chewer and her claws are clipped so it is safe.) It clearly really helped her cool down as she went from suffering without it to straight up chilling with it.
