Customers Say
Affordable garden shredder handles small to medium branches well, ideal for occasional home use. It's lightweight, easy to assemble, but noisy and can clog with fresh or thick material.

Good, domesatic garden shredder.
Bought this last month, I have a lot of clearing up to do in the garden, hedges particularly. This has shredded it down tremendously and it's now all on three compost heaps. Not a particularly quiet machine but it gets the job done. Stands fairly stable, blade seems to cope with pretty much anything my strong secateurs can cut off and it is light enough to move around easily. I'm only likely to use it three or four times a year and I think it is sturdy enough for that but would likely not be strong or powerful enough for professional use.

It shreds after a fashion
It does the shredding of mostly dry woody material okay, but fresher cuttings get wound around the blades comparrtment and get stuck along with short pieces of wood whilst blades are spinning against this causing a burning smell (plus having to sort out whether are pieces of grit/pebbles are stuck in root balls is a pain, have had to order new blades 3rd party (as there's nothing on the mcgregor website) as they are common as muck). It's capacity is very limited as previously mentions soft material or thin twigs can jam which is not identifiable, but it did have difficulty with a 1" thick branches so not sure if I could go up to 45mm max. It is fairly portable but stabilty is a bit of an issue as there are no brakes on the wheel to stop it moving backwards. I managed to get about 5 bags full out including rotating the blades which is not practical for the non-mechanically minded with the large Allen key provided (instruction manual useless)

Does the job
Have 4 stars as only used once but it didn't shred as properly as I would have liked. Hopefully next time it will be better

Comparison
Smaller than expected & noisier when compared to previous devices. Aperture of feeding tunnel reduces ease of loading. Plunger design results in it catching in protective flanges of feeding tube. Shredding process however very effective. Unfortunately stand support (J) missing and awaiting response from support services.

Excellent so far
Working very well so far, after clearing a small garden. Excellent value.

Surprisingly robust!
For the price I wasn't expecting this to handle all that well, so was very cautious and conservative about the branches I was putting through it initially. However, it's a really robust wee machine and I've been very pleased with it's performance. Managed to clear everything we'd pruned and chopped in the garden of a newly purchased house that had been left to go somewhat wild. Shreddings are a good size for the compost bin. All in all, would absolutely purchase again.

Terrible product
I reviewed a few products and decided on this one due to its capabilities. It states it will cut up to 40mm in diameter branches, well that was a shock when it struggled to cut 10mm sticks. It just generally struggles to cut and shred full stop. I will definitely be returning this product as it just doesn't do what it says it does.

Great little shredder of you don't take the Mickey
Yes, it struggles if you over load it. Yes, it can smell of burning, but only if you put something too big in it and it gets friction burn from the blade. But if you use it right, take your time, be sensible with what you shove in then it it's a great little garden shredder. And it's one of the cheapest I could buy (same machine is offered under different brands all over the place). So basically it's cheap, works well if you take your time and don't push it. Only negative, it is quite noisy.

Choose a different product
It claims to shred branches up to 45 mm diameter, but struggled with anything over 10mm. Can only handle a small handful of garden waste at a time . Gets blocked really easily . Smoke came out of the machine and some twigs were burnt. I will return mine as I am concerned about fire risk.
