About this product
The Decathlon Pressure Solar Camping Shower gives you a consistent shower wherever you pitch up. The built-in pump pressurises the water so there's no need to hang it from a tree or hook just pump and go. Solar heating warms the water during the day, giving you a warm rinse after a hike or beach trip. The adjustable button on the handle lets you control the flow, so you use only what you need and conserve water between rinses.
The wide opening makes filling quick and straightforward at taps or streams, and it dries out fast when you're done. Holds enough water for a comfortable shower or washing your kit outdoors. Suits camping trips, festivals or travel where showers aren't always available. The eco-friendly solar design means no batteries or plugs required, just sunlight and a few pumps.

Hello Adam,
Yes, technically you can attach a water filtration straw to it, but because of how this specific shower is built, converting it to a gravity filter is not the best approach. Instead, you should convert it into a pressurized filter system. If you try to hang it up and let gravity pull water out without opening the top cap, a vacuum will form inside the bag, and the water flow will quickly grind to a halt. Thank you for using Q&A!
Hello Adam,
Yes, you can absolutely do this, and it works incredibly well. Because this specific Decathlon shower features a built-in pump, you don't have to rely entirely on gravity; you can pressurize the tank to force water through the filter at a much faster rate than standard gravity systems allow.
To make this modification work, please note the following adjustments for the hose and setup:
1. Hose Measurements
The transparent PU hose on the Decathlon 10L shower has an internal diameter of 6.5 mm and an external diameter of 9.5 mm. This is highly compatible with the 1/4-inch flexible tubing that is the universal standard for the outdoor water filtration industry.
2. Attaching the Filter (e.g., Sawyer Squeeze or HydroBlu)
You have two options for connecting an inline filter:
- The "No-Cut" Method: Remove the spray head nozzle from the end of the hose and push the raw 6.5 mm hose directly onto the barbed inlet side of the filter.
- The Spliced Inline Method: To keep the spray handle for flow control, cut the hose and splice the filter into the middle of the tubing. Ensure the filter's flow arrow points away from the tank toward the nozzle.
3. Gravity vs. Pressurized Filtration
- Gravity: Fill the bag with source water, hang it high, and let gravity pull the water through the filter.
- Pressurized (Recommended): Use the built-in pump handle to pressurize the tank. This pushes water through the filter micro-fibers much faster, allowing you to fill a bottle in seconds.
Important Warning: Once the inside of the Decathlon shower bag has held unfiltered water, the tank is considered contaminated. Do not drink directly from the hose without the filter attached unless you thoroughly sanitize the bag first.
Thank you for using our Q&A service
Hello Markymark,
This solar camping shower uses a hose made of transparent polyurethane with the following dimensions: Internal diameter 6.5mm, External diameter 9.5mm, Length 2.6mm. So if you're looking to replace the tubing, any hose matching those diameter measurements (6.5 mm ID / 9.5 mm OD) should fit while maintaining compatibility with the shower's fittings and pump mechanism. Thank you for using Q&A!
Hello Tibs,
This Solar Camping Shower is a soft, flexible container, not a rigid or solid one. It's collapsible and portable, packs flat when dry. Thank you for using Q&A!
Hello Sal,
If it’s stored for a while (e.g., between trips), clean it before and after storage to prevent buildup or surprises when you open it again. We always recommend to clean it after each use. Thank you for using Q&A!
Hello Donna,
Please have a look below the relevant information in regards to heating and hot water for the Decathlon Pressure Solar Camping Shower - 10L.
Heating time depends on several factors: the initial water temperature, outdoor temperature, ground type (concrete, grass, etc.), wind, sun, etc. To speed up heating, increase the surface area exposed to the sun by laying down the non-inflated shower. It’s also possible to add hot water directly but be careful as the temperature shouldn't go over 50°C as you risk damaging the product components and putting yourself in danger.
To encourage increased temperature, put the shower in the sun between :12:00 and 18:00. We advise against putting it behind a car windscreen; our tests show that the water could go beyond 70°C. Be aware that the temperature drops as soon as the sun fades. When you put the pressure on, a ringing noise from the valve will signal maximum pressure: pump again when the pressure drops in use.
Here are our temperature readings after a heating test on the standing shower exposed to the sun. The test took place one mid-June afternoon in the south of France.
The shower was standing, pressurized and filled with water to its maximum level (10 L).
Outside temperature of 25°C, barely any wind, 750 W/M² solar power. Initial water temperature:22°C.
In 3 hours, the water went from 22°C to 30°C
In 5 hours, the water went from 22°C to 35°C
In 6 hours 48 minutes, the water went from 22°C to 38°C.
You can improve heating time by increasing the area exposed to the sun: lie the shower horizontally on a table or on the ground. Performance will be improved under the same test conditions in standing position.
We have added a water temperature gauge. This starts when the water is at 30°C and goes up to 40°C. In all cases, it is recommended to let the water run a little before taking your shower to ensure that the water is not too hot.
