Light with reasonably long reach and good battery

Bought this to trim some very tall hedges consisting of different types of trees. The product is fantastic for reaching high or distant small branches. It is lighter than other trimmers, making me able to reach further and hold it up for longer. It will get jammed on larger branches so you do also need a heavier duty trimmer if your hedges have mature branches under the surface. Only one slight niggle is the placement of the safety switch. It is sometimes a little awkward to press, but this really is only a very minor issue. Battery last a reasonable amount of time. I managed to work on my hedges for 4-5 hours at a time, sharing the work between this trimmer and a heavy duty one, as well as moving ladders etc around and have not yet run out of power, though by the end of that time only 1 of the 4 charge lights were still on. Good enough for me.

It lived up to expectations, in particular the Weight. Just gave it its First Outing and I’m happy with the results so far. On a slight downer I think the Motor could be a little more powerful.

Good tool

It has made cutting the hedges on my very big garden much easier as they get higher. I'm not very big so it does get heavy after a while though. Very happy with it over all.

I think the lightweight hedge-trimmer is a good product, it appears to be well-made, although I have struggled to put it together and dissemble it - it’s not as easy as it could be. Also, I find the trimmer heavy to use as most of the weight is in the cutting head. I am a slim 5’4” female of 60–years and I look after three gardens - my own, my Mum’s and my Dad’s - so I need to be able to use equipment like this. You might consider reducing the length of the central bit of the equipment to make the trimmer more manageable for smaller not so strong people, like me? Alternatively, offer a half-length central section (either FOC or for a small additional fee) which would make the trimmer easier to use.

Sorry this review is late but I have only just used it today (06/10/2025) for the first time. On the day I ordered this my Fiancee got a gardener, a friend uses to trim their hedge to trim ours. However now I have used it, I can confirm it’s ease of use and we are pleased with the results after my first ever attempt at trimming a hedge with a powered trimmer. I used it and did what was needed with the power supplied in the battery at time of delivery. Very pleased with the Gtech lightweight Hedge Trimmer LHT50 and would not hesitate to recommend it. Great looking device and an excellent tool. It was delivered as stated when ordering the next day and bought because of an excellent offer at the time. Highly recommended. BIG THANK YOU.

Exceeded expectations

Lightweight as listed and well balanced. Found the strap support not necessary so could move around freely. Cutting finish much neater than anticipated so have used not only for hedges but also for more shaped cutting tasks. Easy to assemble. Blade cover is loose and falls off if head not held upright while it is on. It is also not quite long enough to cover the whole cutting head. I think this could be improved. However, the trimmer itself is excellent and has exceeded expectations
