Works well
This was a bit of an impulse purchase, but it does what I wanted. It increases and maintains the humidity in my living room well. The tank is big enough to last at least a day and the two levels of control seem to work right for me.

Nice reliable vaporiser
I bought this a few weeks ago to use at night to clear up a lingering cold. It doesn’t turn the room into a sauna but puts out a nice gentle mist that seems to ease the phlegm. Doesn’t clear it up, but does help.

Not impressed
Not as good as I thought it would be. Even using 2 Vicks vapour pads, everyone I’ve asked cannot smell the vapours. I’ll wait until after Xmas and then give it to the charity shop along with the 21 vapour pads I’ve bought. So my view is that it’s not worth paying out £80 of my pension for this product.

Good humidifier
Been using the humidifier for a few weeks and so far, it's helped make the air less dry. Baby's nose appears to be less stuffy too.

Does what it says
Brought this few weeks ago and can honestly say I see a massive difference in my sons sleep and breathing.

Hello Maz, thank you for your question. Generally, the Vicks VH845 Warm Mist Humidifier is safe to use in a room with a pet, provided it is placed on a stable, elevated surface out of the dog's reach to prevent any risk of tipping or contact with the warm steam. However, because Chihuahuas have sensitive respiratory systems, we recommend using only plain water and avoiding the use of VapoPads or essential oils. If you have further concerns, your local veterinarian is always the best resource for advice tailored to your pet's health.

Hello and thank you for your interest in our product! The Vicks VH845 Warm Mist Humidifier can absolutely be used on its own to provide soothing warm mist without VapoPads. The VapoPads are an optional accessory that can be added if you’d like a menthol or other scented vapour, but they are not required for the humidifier to function. Many people choose to run the unit with plain water only, especially when looking for simple moisture relief from congestion. Later on, when desired, the VapoPads can be used to add extra comfort for coughs and colds. If any additional information is required, please do not hesitate to approach us at Vicks_WICK_Support@helenoftroy.eu
We wish you and your wife comfort and wellbeing during this special time.
Best regards,
Mariya, Vicks Team
Hello Elron, thank you for your question. We believe you may have meant to ask whether the Vicks VH845 produces a visible mist rather than “most.” Yes, the VH845 Warm Mist Humidifier does release a clearly visible warm mist when operating. This mist helps to add moisture to the air, supporting comfort during dry seasons and easing symptoms such as congestion or dryness. The mist is safe, soothing, and you’ll notice it rising from the unit during use. Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the mist remains fresh and effective. If any additional information is required, please do not hesitate to approach our Customer Support Team at Vicks_WICK_Support@helenoftroy.eu Best regards, Mariya, Vicks Europe Team

Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi! Thank you for your question. You can use tap water, but the result may vary due to the region you live in and the local tap water.
We recommend cleaning your humidifier once a week or once a month.
Here are some steps to stop bacteria and scale forming in your humidifier.
Take out the water tank and slowly pour 0.5 litres of undiluted, distilled white vinegar into the reservoir on the water tray.
Pour vinegar over the blue locking latch.
Only pour vinegar into the deep reservoir.
Note: Pour slowly to allow the vinegar to flow from the reservoir into the heating chamber.
Leave for 20 minutes to loosen any scale on the heating element.
Steps for removing scale from the water tank:
Pour in more vinegar, replace the cap and swish to coat the inside.
Wipe away any scale with a damp cloth.
Remove the mist chimney by sliding the blue latch and lifting it towards the front.
Remove the heating element cover by lifting it off the round part.
Open the round opening and pull the cover away from the chimney.
Wet the brush with vinegar from the water tray.
Scrub the surface of the heating element.
Cover the reservoir and heating chamber to remove mineral deposits.
We hope you find this information useful.

You can, and I do, use essential oils with this. You cant put the oils directly in the water tank, but there is a blue inhalant tray over the steam outlet which is specifically for things like essential oils.
Good day,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings caused.
The Vicks VH845 Warm Mist Humidifier is specifically designed for use with Vicks VapoPads only. We do not recommend adding essential oils, medications, or inhalant liquids directly into the water tank, as this could damage the humidifier and its components, as well as void the warranty.
However, if you’d like to enjoy the benefits of essential oils, you can use Vicks VapoPads, which are pre-saturated with essential oils. To use, simply open the scent pad door on the humidifier, insert up to two pads, and close the door. Additionally, the device features an Inhalant Cup where you can place essential oils for safe use.
We have attached the user manual below for your reference, which provides further details.
