Really poor service
Went through the whole purchasing process in store, only to be told you no longer had it in stock and my card would have to be refunded - the following day.

I bough this to replace a 4 socket extension lead that alway tripped the fuse if all 4 socets were in use. That's not a problem with this model and the USB ports are an added bonus!

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Masterplug 4 Socket 2m USB Surge Protected Extension Lead: When nothing is being used (i.e. no USB devices being charged) the extension will draw less than 75 milliwatts of power at a nominal 230V.

No, UK extension leads don't usually have circuit breakers built in, those would be found in a mains distribution board (consumer unit).
Over current protection here is provided by the fuse in the plug.

The switch should cut all power when rocked to the off position, so it sounds like you have a stuck or welded switch mechanism in your extension.
Being only 2 months old you are well within the first 12 months of ownership so the trade counter should replace this for you per UK Consumer Law (as a function of the purchase contract between yourselves).
