Well made product
After putting the chain saw and blade on, which I found a little difficult, I put in chain saw oil and off we went to cut logs. I was a little concerned at first as I thought the chain oil was not getting through to the chain and blade but after a little while I saw the oil in the window slowly dropping so that was not now a problem. I had to adjust the chain tension and could not see how you did this as the instructions did not spell it out easily. Eventually I realised that you had to slacken off the fixing screw for the chain wheel cover (No 9) you could then slacken or tighten the chain tension by using the chain tensioning screw (no 10). So again another problem solved. It cut the wood I had into logs very efficiently albeit a little heavy for my wife to use but OK for me. Only used it for a couple of hours that day but I've got more to do today and possibly tomorrow. Good product first one of Einhell I have used.

Excellent safety features - including the cable
As a first time chainsaw user, I bought this chainsaw after having firstly tried two of a different make - both of which had a single screw device for the chain cover/tensioner - and bot failed to tension the chain! So as I have a good quality Einhell saw, I bought the GH-EC2040. Out of the box I immediately recognised a safety feature that is not mentioned in the pre-sales literature. The power cable is just several inches long at the chainsaw end. This means that you can disconnect the electric (before tensioning etc) quickly and easily at the chainsaw - without having to walk 10 metres to disconnect at the power outlet - and I'm sure this means many more owners will indeed follow the instruction to disconnect. Also the saw end of the supply cable is fitted with a cap to stop debris etc getting ito the lead socket. Another reason I bought this saw was the tensioning screw being a separate control to the chain cover wheel. This works fine (unlike the previous makes). In use I find this saw to be quite powerful and thus not quite as forgiving as other makes - I feel it demands you maintain focus - but the fact the chain stops instantly when the power button is released I believe more than compensates for this. Safety instructions need to be followed as all times. I'm very happy with my purchase and have already used it to cost up a lot of firewood.
