Our Canterbury Armchair is a beautiful, honest and hand finished piece of furniture from Habitat x Morris and Co. Designed to be cherished by generations, who value the skill and detailed craftsmanship invested in this Arts & Craft inspired chair. In solid oak, it features decorative flattened spindles, an open shape, turned legs and frame bracing. Finished with a comfy cushioned seat in botanical upholstery. Naturally pleasing.

Disappointing
Disappointing. Wood was poorly finished. Rough in the arms. Very visible filler used on the back rest. Not the golden oak shown on photos. The cushion is too short.

Kept going and doing about making the purchase, but so glad I did! Lovely high quality looking and feeling chair, deep seat, comfy cushion pad. Only issue is I would have liked a choice in fabric for the cushion pad, but it’s still really pretty anyway.

Purchased two, chair pads are wildly different
These chairs look lovely, I purchased two, one is quite comfortable with a soft Seat pad, the other is so firm we avoid it. How strange for two chairs purchased together, if I can swap out a seat pad Argos, please get in touch.

I love the look and quality of the chair, the back is deep so it does need back cushions to make it comfortable. I’m just disappointed that the price was reduced by 20% straight after I’d bought it!

Looks great but could be more comfortable.
The chairs look lovely and are good quality but I find the back curves round a little too far making the arm rests difficult to use. The seat cushion should also be fitted with ties so that you can secure it in place rather than slowly sliding forwards.

Classic Design
I loved the look of this armchair - but was unsure as couldn’t try it out first. I decided to go for it, and I am happy with the look and overall comfort of the chair. It is made well, but you will need to add additional cushions to make it more comfortable, or if you wish to sit up straighter. As a reading chair it has met it’s purpose.

It is possible to have a new foam pad cut by a local trader for insertion into the original cover. Also it is possible to make a new cover should you require one. There are both established shopfront traders and others who offer such services on Etsy or similar. It is not difficult to make this type of seat cover once. you know how - I would make my own.
