Compact design which is good as it doesn't take up too much space, comes apart for cleaning which is great, yes the element is visible which although isn't attractive isn't a deal breaker, fries food nicely, probably wouldn't recommend for more than 4 though as basket is quite compact

Great looking appliance .
Good size and compact fryer that is easy to use and looks great on the counter . Easy to use and cooks my food beautifully.. Keeps the freeze smell down to a minimum after using as well with the closed lid. Handy to use digital button and I am still learning.

if you read the other 1* reviews like my wife should have done then you'll find out that the oil pan moves about a little bit and if filled to just below max level the basket is about 5mm still in the oil, as for the basket well it's rubbish and you cant shake your fries because its designed to rock and trying to shake it really doesn't do anything. so my advice is go to Asda and spend £20 on a fryer that does a far better job and looks just like the next version down of the Russell hobbs fryer

You absolutely can. I have used nothing only beef dripping in it. I start the heating on low then turn it up full when most of the dripping has melted. They likely say no because they havent bothered testing it. I have only ever used solid beef dripping in all deep fat fryers, this one is no exception.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Russell Hobbs Stainless Steel Digital Deep Fat Fryer 24580: ''Please have the customer read all the instructions in the manual (linked below) where it is confirmed on the 6th page under the FILLING WITH OIL instructions as follows:
Don’t use solid cooking oil, fat, butter, margarine, or olive oil. Olive oil generally contains too much water, and can be too smoky. Buy a good quality liquid cooking oil suitable for deep frying, like sunflower or corn oil.''

“ The heating element is connected to the front control panel and together they are a detachable element. When connected to the Deep fat fryer, the heating element goes into the pan. ”
