Product Fault - Manufacturer Not Helpful.
This is my second purchase of this Russell Hobbs Deep Fat Fryer (the second one being replaced under warranty). I would definitely NOT purchase another one of this make or model as it has a fault of the lid gasket/seal splitting and leaking oil from the fryer.

Bought just before Christmas to replace older D/F/Fryer - not quite as good as other one, because cooking oil was in direct contact with the heating elements inside. Did the job tho’, but not sure about emptying and cleaning inside ! Quite happy tho’, as it cooks faster than old one.

You absolutely can. I have used nothing only beef dripping in it. I start the heating on low then turn it up full when most of the dripping has melted. They likely say no because they havent bothered testing it. I have only ever used solid beef dripping in all deep fat fryers, this one is no exception.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Russell Hobbs Stainless Steel Digital Deep Fat Fryer 24580: ''Please have the customer read all the instructions in the manual (linked below) where it is confirmed on the 6th page under the FILLING WITH OIL instructions as follows:
Don’t use solid cooking oil, fat, butter, margarine, or olive oil. Olive oil generally contains too much water, and can be too smoky. Buy a good quality liquid cooking oil suitable for deep frying, like sunflower or corn oil.''

“ The heating element is connected to the front control panel and together they are a detachable element. When connected to the Deep fat fryer, the heating element goes into the pan. ”
