About this product
Essential for safety (one alarm should be on every floor of your home). It has a 10-year sealed-in Lithium battery that lasts the life of the alarm. Easy to install, compact and discreet, it has a handy test and hush button which will silence the alarm if triggerd by mistake. The battery for this product is sealed-in, for the life of the product - very difficult to remove and will last the life of the alarm.
This product is BSI tested and certified to EN14604:2005, CE tested, and is fully tested before leaving the factory.

Easy to install, though unfortunately it doesn't fit straight onto the mounting plate of the old, replaceable battery, Kidde alarm it is replacing. Is good that it has a10 year battery, but bear in mind that's 10 years from when it was made.

It is neat and unobtrusive to look at. 10 year guarantee should mean that I won't need to worry about it for quite some time which suits me. Easy to install too.

Hi Kate. The alarm comes in 2 parts, a flat plastic plate that is attached to the ceiling, and the main alarm body. The plate has holes in it that allow it to be screwed to the ceiling. So you drill 2 holes in your ceiling, insert the included wallplugs, then hold the plate to the ceiling while you screw the plate to the ceiling. After that, you then take the main body of the alarm, line it up with the plate, then twist the body so it locks onto the plate.

Mine came with an elasticated red plastic dust cover. The instructions specifically say not to remove the cover until all dust creating work is completed. I didnt find the alarm as easy to attach to the bracket as the instructions suggest. Maybe its also tricky to remove which is why they provide a dust cover.

If the battery in your Kidde 10 Year Smoke Alarm runs out before the 10-year lifespan, it could be considered faulty.
