OK - but pretty basic quality.
I bought this a few weeks ago. I found it quite difficult to follow the instructions in the booklet and couldn't assemble it myself. Had to get a handyman to do it. It's OK but looks what it is - a fairly basic piece of furniture. I guess you get what you pay for.

Great Unit for a TV, sturdy
This was bought on the 1st and delivered 3rd October - choose a 7-2 delivery - arrived bang on 7am, on the Storm Amy day! So was really thankful and pleased I could actually get it without waiting for it all morning. It was bought to sit alongside another that i already had purchased some time ago from Argos, and the two side by side is perfect for accomodating a larger screen size and have no problems with it. The only problem was a flaw in the pattern direction of the bottom shelve, which , for some odd reason seems to go in 90 grain pattern which is really poor quality in the QC department, but thankfully is hidden on mine as soon as it is installed, too much hassle to return it but did get a small token discount off it, after contacting CS about it Really easy to put together and no fumbly halfturn screw things that most furniture has these days. Also there are 4 plastic dowel rods (2 small and 2 long), the longer ones go right through the holes in the centre shelf and fit into the the dividing centre pieces - both at the same time. Pay attention when building, to where the base and back is of each part it all fits together exactly as it should.)

You can use a screw drill if you want to screw some what of the way of the longer screws, but not the small ones - but only as far as almost the end - then do the final tightening with a manual driver - this is what i did.
A drill isnt however recommended by Argos, as it could do damage to panels if over tightened.

I can confirm that the Home Maine TV Unit - Black Ash Effect is suitable for screen sizes up to 43in. Therefore, a 65in TV will not fit.

It can do if you dont mind the tv overlapping the sides of the base of the unit.
The legs of it shouldnt be more than 100cm at its widest points as they arent going to fit on the top properly otherwise.
My 49in Samsung TV legs measure 96cm , and my 47in LG legs was at widest points, 86cm - both fit on it ok, but sides of TV stick out around 6cm each side over the edges a little, which is fine if against a flat wall anyway - with nothing either side of it.

Hello there,
The supplier has advised the following for the Maine TV Unit - Oak Effect:
"PDF 6092270-R-Z001A is correct."
It has one full width shelf only in the middle (not two) and that's not moveable, it's part of the structural frame of the item. This shelf is 998mm x 359mm though the functional width is a little less due to the divider in the middle.

The Argos Home Maine TV Unit - Black Ash Effect is suitable for screen sizes up to 43 inches. The width of the unit is 103cm so a TV bigger than this may overhang and would potentially be unsafe.
