About this product
Keeping neighbourhood cats and foxes out while letting your own pet come and go freely can feel impossible with a standard cat flap. This SureFlap Microchip Pet Door uses your pet's existing microchip as an electronic door key to keep out intruder animals. Suitable for large cats and small dogs with shoulder width up to 17cm, the curfew mode lets you set lock and unlock times if you want to keep them inside at night. Made from plastic with 4 access settings inoutopenedlocked.
The microchip recognition stops unwanted visitors entering your home, which matters if local strays have been causing stress or mess. Curfew mode programming gives you control over their outdoor access without manually locking the flap each evening. It fits into glass, wood and most PVC doors, plus windows with a mounting adaptor. The 3-year manufacturer's guarantee covers electronic components for long-term reliability.

Customers Say
Large microchip cat flap works well for big cats, keeps out strays, and offers curfew control. Installation can be tricky; some cats wary of clicking noise. Battery type often mislisted; no template included.

Great flap but not fit for my purpose
Product looks great but sadly doesnt do what I need it to. I need to limit exit from the house for one of my cats, but this model doesnt allow that. The only model that does is the dualscan model, but the flap is too small for my bengal cat

Great curfew mode.
I bought this to replace 1 I already had which had stopped working after many years. Overall the product is very good and keeps intruder cats at bay whilst letting mine comfortably come and go as they please, which is a bonus when you have 4. As I had one previously, the installation was very straightforward.

Perfect
Perfect replacement for our old cat flap that was getting tired after 15 years of loyal service

Reliability
Have one exactly the same for 7 years and a non-microchip one before that. Still working but looking a bit sorry for itself. Perspex window now rather scratched due to desperation when cat is not allowed out, also kitchen door has been moved twice with cat flap in situ during building work. My cat is large (7.0) kilos and gets in and out no problem. Have never had another cat inside. It looks good and blends in with white door. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Battery issues
Bought a couple of weeks ago and disappointed with the temperamental nature of the batteries… they won’t stay in place and so the catflap stops working and cats are stuck outside. I have contacted customer support, but had no reply yet. I will be chasing a replacement product I think!

Cat flap
My cat is quite large but fits through comfortably. It is very durable although a bit of a faff to install.

Great catflap
Installed this a couple of weeks ago for my 2 cats that became too big for the old microchip cat flap. There's no template but it was pretty easy to install. By comparison to the 2 other catflaps I've had, apart from being larger, it's actually less drafty and the mechanism click is quieter which my nervous cat appreciates

Hello Sally,
The SureFlap Microchip Pet Door can be installed into double-glazed and triple-glazed glass doors and windows. For safety and correct installation, any glass cutting must be carried out by a qualified glazier, as cutting toughened or sealed glass panels requires specialist equipment.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Carrie.
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door
To install the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door in glass, you will need a mounting adaptor that covers the circular cut-out and provides a stable surface for the unit to mount correctly. The required hole diameter for the mounting adaptor is between 210 mm (minimum) to 260 mm (maximum), and it is compatible with holes ranging from 294 mm (minimum) to 320 mm (maximum) in diameter. It is recommended to use a non-metallic spacer around the cut-out to avoid interference with the microchip reader.

Hello GG,
I can advise the following for the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door:
They are still read the same and the set up is still the same regardless of age of the chip/cat.
Thanks for using Q & A.
As mentioned in the previous answer, the microchip detector is on the outside ie the tunnel side of the unit.
If you install it backwards it would work the way you want ie only cats with microchips could exit BUT there would be no restriction on incoming cats.
Hope this helps.
Hey Ellemm,
I can advise that this pet door has a "locked function" you can use to stop any cats using it during certain times or for a period of time etc. The door only opens outwards so fitting it the other way around will make it unusable if you have other cats.
Thanks for using Q&A.
