I needed a new kettle and bought this one. I like it as it’s quite stylish, quiet and boils quickly. It’s just a lot bigger than I was expecting. As a single guy I only need a small kettle and for a 0.7 litre it’s big. Nevertheless I’m happy with it.

I would recommend this kettle highly as it’s a good price, looks nice and is good quality, I’m on my third one and have only replaced it due to damage caused by hard water which ruins electrical equipment over time but this product lasts longer than most with only minor deterioration slightly affecting performance eventually!

I’m disappointed with this brand of Russell Hobbs kettle for two reasons. One, it steams over the ‘glass’ so you cannot see the level of water clearly, unlike my last RH filter kettle. Two, despite using the Maxtra cartridge recommended my tea now tastes strongly of limescale.

Nice Kettle, but with a design issue...
I've had this kettle for two years now, and it's very good for softening hard water, and removing limescale, but there is one flimsy part on the kettle, and it's the finger catch, that you use to lift the lid, to fill the kettle. When the kettle has been used for around a year (in my experience), the lid sticks with limescale deposit around the rim of the lid. This makes the two spring-loaded catches that normally apply just enough friction to keep the lid secure, stick as well. It got so bad, that eventually, the finger-catch broke on one side, and the lid had to be pried open with a knife. The lid was dismantled, cleaned around the rim, and once dry, reassembled, after gluing the finger catch. This broke again a few months later. Sadly, after checking here, for either a replacement finger-catch, or even a replacement lid, it appears that these are not available to repair the kettle... A pity, as it has been a good kettle, and for such a small cheap part to replace, it feels ridiculous to buy another of the same model, for it to break again in the same manner...

However, the manufacturer's instruction manual advises that the anti-scale mesh filter on the spout should be kept in place to prevent the boiling water from spitting or splashing while pouring
