Customers Say
The Russell Hobbs Brita filter kettle is praised for quick boiling, improved water taste, and effective limescale reduction. Its smaller capacity suits singles or couples, but filter replacement cost and slower filling are noted drawbacks.

I bought this item 3 years ago and was happy with its performance.

Nice looking kettle
It’s heavier than I thought. But looks good and boils and stops as it should. But the filter - well it may be put forward as a good idea, BUT it costs £9.99 per month to replace ?? Consequently when the free filter given with the kettle needs replacing, I shall use the kettle without.

Boils fast
Boils fast but capacity is smaller than normal kettle obviously because of the filter which needs replacing every month and and there are not cheap Overall pleased with purchase

Don’t buy one.
Cheap and nasty. Vile horrible tasting tea. Goodness knows what’s in the filter. Small capacity kettle.

Perfect, perfect, perfect!
Wanted a kettle that I would be able see the water level clearly, certainly can with this one. Didn’t realise it was a water filter when I purchased, as I use a water filter jug to fill the kettle. I’m double filtered. It does take a little while for the water to filter through, so as I use a water filter jug, I sometimes take the inside filter holder out. I don’t have to descale it, bottom is as clear as when I first used it, 7 months ago. It definitely speaks for itself how good they work. Hot drinks taste very good these days. Easy to boil one cup of water at a time. It’s a fairly broad base nice looking kettle, with a smaller amount capacity, to a normal size kettle. Do NOT overfill above the max line. Seems to boil hotter than others I’ve used. Pleased I bought this one, would buy again.

Hello Sue,
Yes, the Russell Hobbs 22851 Brita Purity kettle can be used without the Brita filter or filter-holder insert. However, the manufacturer's instruction manual advises that the anti-scale mesh filter on the spout should be kept in place to prevent the boiling water from spitting or splashing while pouring
