About this product
Multi-cat households need a way to manage which pets can come and go, especially when some need to stay indoors for health or safety reasons. This SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap reads your cat's existing microchip to control entry and exit, storing up to 32 cats without extra collars or tags. Suitable for small to medium cats up to 6kg, the 4-way lock lets you set in only, out only, both ways or fully locked depending on your routine.
The microchip scanning removes the risk of neighbourhood cats wandering in and causing stress or fights. Battery powered with 4xAA batteries, it works with all standard microchip formats without registration hassles. Fits into wood, PVC and glass doors or windows, though glass installations need a separate mounting adaptor. The flap opening measures 12cm high by 14.2cm wide with max shoulder width of 14.2cm, so check your cat's build before ordering.

Excellent Cat Flap
Amazing features you can set this so it allows only certain cats to leave the house. We have kittens that were always getting out now they are unable to. Life changing no longer worried will also be brilliant if we need to keep any of the others in whilst still allowing remaining cats to go in or out!

Not suitable for more than one cat!
I bought this catflap in October, it stopped working in 4 months. Used loads of batteries in that time. Definitely not suitable for more than one cat as sensors stop working with too much foot flow.

Works well
After having another cat coming into our house, I bought this cat flap to sort out the problem. It fitted into the existing hole in the door and was easy to program. My cat sussed it out in about five minutes and we’ve not been bothered by invading moggies since.

Lasted 10 years
The first one I bought lasted 10 years. I have just bought a second one, and it was £20 cheaper. The first one worked flawlessly until about a month ago, and just died of old age.

Sureflap DualScan Microschip cat flap
We purchased the dual scan microchip cat flap to replace the sureflap microchip catflap are adult cats were already using as we had taken on three new rescue kittens, the duel scan microchip catflap allowed us to program the flap to allow the adult cats full access in and out of the house whilst keeping the kittens inside, the cat flap was extremely straightforward to install as a direct replacement for the sureflap microchip catflapbwe already had and was also very simple to program. The sureflap microchip dualscan cat flap was very easy to reprogram once the kittens were old enough to start going outside and has been working without any issues since we installed it. We originally purchased a sureflap microchip catflap to stop neighbours cats coming in through a standard catflap which it has done flawlessly. We can highly recommend this product if you want to control access into your house for your cats.

Great invention
Brilliant at keeping all the cats out but it took my cat a week get used to it. Small design flaw is there should be a setting to change it to a normal catflap cus i was sick of keep pressing the button and taking batteries out so he could get back in. He had no problem getting out just took him a while to master getting back in. Hes learnt it now so happy days. Should have bought this ages ago. Was sick of cats down street keep coming in weeing and stealing food.

Good quality and reliable
I bought this to replace an identical one that I have had for over ten years and was starting to not always read the chip meaning my cats sometimes couldn't get out or back in. I particularly chose this one as (a) I know that they work well, and (b) I knew that it would fit the existing hole. Swap-over was easy and it works perfectly straight away. Tip 1 - Instructions say to fit it and then feed your car through it to register the chip. However it is much easier and less stressful to both you and the cat to do in in the house before you install it. You don't even have to feed the cat through it, just hold the flap by their neck and it will read the chip. Tip 2 - There used to be one model that worked both ways (in and out), be aware that there is now a single way one as well as this dual way one. You need this dual one if you want it to work both ways.

Good quality and easy swap
We needed to change from single direction chip reading to both directions. This was easy to fit and works really well. Very easy to set up.

Excellent
This is an excellent catflap. Easy to use with straightforward instructions and if you're replacing an old Sureflap catflap it's simply one in one out. I recommend this product.

Dual features for entry and exit with microchip
I purchased this cat flap a couple of weeks ago to manage outdoor access for both my adult cat and a kitten, specifically to prevent the kitten from going outside. The dual sided locking mechanism ensures that entry and exit are restricted with a microchip, and the settings allow for selective access, enabling one pet to exit while restricting the other. Installation was seamless, it replaced my previous SureFlap cat flap perfectly with no additional adjustments required. The setup was straightforward, and the device has been functioning flawlessly since installation.

Hello Helen,
SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap
No app is mentioned for this model.
Based on the product details I have, the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap works with your cat's existing microchip and has a 4-way manual lock. It can store up to 32 cats, and you can change permissions for individual cats at any time by using the memory button and putting the cat through so the chip is read.
So in practice:
Cats you want to have free access: register their microchip, then set the flap to allow the entry/exit you want.
Cats you want to keep in: do not register that cat's microchip, so the flap won't let them out.
It also has an exit-only mode if you need that.
The key point is that it's not app-connected from the information available to me, it's controlled through the flap's settings and microchip learning.

Hello JJ.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap.
Yes, we recommend using tunnel extenders to fit the SureFlap into a wall. The customer will need the Cat Flap Tunnel Extenders, which are compatible with the DualScan Cat Flap.

Hello Betty01,
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap:
Yes, the DualScan should stop this.
It reads the cat’s microchip both in and out, so the unit stays always locked in both directions unless for cats who are allowed to pass through. This means a neighbour’s cat shouldn’t be able to claw it open backwards and get inside.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi, there.
SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap 483/3802
As log as you don't register the puppy's microchip on the device this shouldn't be an issue.
